.This invention relates to a special shaving brush, certain features of which were shown in my former patent application Serial No. 419,256, filed Jan. 8, 1930 which has matured into Patent No. 1,846,091.

The object of my invention is to produce a special shaving brush whereby the brush head may readily be drawn within a small handle casing, or ejected therefrom, and without demounting the brush from said casing.

Another object is to produce a demountable shaving brush that can easily be carried in the pocket when not in use, and that will have the appearance of a fountain pen.

A further object is to produce a combination brush and soap tube casing, that will serve as a brush handle when opened, and that may be readily joined to a similar razor casing for forming a complete shaving set in one unit.

These several objects are attained in the preferred form by the construction and arrangement of parts more fully hereinafter set forth.

lVhile I have shown the views in the drawing in enlarged sections for the purpose of more clearly illustrating the mechanical details, it is intended that the'finished product be much smaller, and of a size and. design to present the appearance of an ordinary fountain pen, and for carrying in the pocket in a similar manner. P

I will now describe more fully the detailed construction of my device, referring to the drawing and the marks thereon.

In general, my demountable shaving brush comprises a tubular casing closed at one end by an attached end cap, and having a shaving brush head slidably mounted therein, said brush head being actuated within the casing by means of a connected screw shaft rotatably mounted on the casing head.

The casing 1- may be made of thin metal, or of any other suitable material such as hard rubber, bakelite, etc., and is formed of a tubular section 1, open at both ends thereof, one end being provided with'threads a for screwing a threaded end cap 2 thereon. The opposite casing end is formed with a narrow external flange -b, en circling the outer end wall, and carries rotatably mounted thereon a turning ring 3-.- also formed with an internal flanged collar c designed-to engage the casing flanged band turn thereon; Within the turning ring -3 is fixedly mounted a disc plate 4 tightly pressed within the ring walls and positioned to engage the easing ends when the casing and ring flanges are together, thus securely but rotatably mounting the turning ring thereon. The open edge of the turning ring is provided with internal threads cfor receiving therein a correspondingly threaded soap cream cup -5, and which may be easily detached therefrom by unscrewing the section. Mounted 011 the center of the ring disc 4 is a threaded operating screw 6, fixedly attached to the disc center and positioned concentric with the casing axis, said screw 6 being rotatable directly with the connected turning ring. Slidably mounted inside the opposite casing end is a 'cy lindrical plug brush head 7, capable of being moved the entire length of said casing, said brush head being formed with a central tubular recess 8 also coinciding with the casing axis, and is designed to allow the operating screw G to be passed therethrough, said operating screw being connected to the brush head 7 by a small pin 9- fixedly mounted through the brush head and projected within the central recess opening, engaging the operating screw threads (Z, causing an endwise movement of the head -7 within the casing 1 upon any rotation of the turning ring 3-. The pin 9 is also extended beyond the outer wall of the brush head for engaging the wall slot e formed lengthwise of the inside casing wall, and serves to prevent rotation of the brush head as the operating screw is turned. Suitable brush bristles 10- are mounted within the brush head in the ordinary manner for mounting bristles of this character, the quality of bristles being varied as desired. Small holes f are preferably formed through the ring disc 4 to provide ventilation therethrough for more easily drying the brush after using.

Within the soap cream cup 5 is slidably mounted a discharge disc 1l, formed with a rigid guide pin 12- positioned at right angles thereto and along the casing axis, said guide pin being projected through the casing end hole g, and prevents the disc from any side displacement therein. Through the outer end of the soap cream cup 5 are formed a series of soap cream passages h-, and through which the soft cream soap k as placed within the cup, may be forced by depressing the discharge disc 11 with the thumb, when said cup is detached from the supporting ring 3, thus providing soap cream for use with the shaving brush 10 as desired. The cup 5- may be readily refilled by removing the discharge disc 1l therefrom, filling the cup with soap cream in the ordinary manner, then replacing the discharge disc therein.

'When the demountable shaving brush is not in use it may be withdrawn within the casing 1- by rotating the turning ring 3-, and the end cap 2 attached as in dicated in the Fig. 6 of the drawing.

If desired, my demountable brush may be closed by attaching same to the casing end of my demountable razor section more specifically described in my former patent application Serial No. 419,256, and for which the brush is especially designed and intended, as indicated in Fig. 7, the combined sections resembling a fountain pen, and is intended to be carried in the pocket in a similar manshaving brush, what I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A demountable shaving brush adapted for carrying in the pocket, comprising a tubular casing suitable for a handle member and threaded at one end, said casing being formed with a narrow wall slot lengthwise of the inside wall thereof, a shaving brush head with bristles attached slidably mounted within the threaded casing end, pin means mounted on the side of said brush head for engaging said casing wall slot and sliding therein, a turning ring rotatably mounted 011 the opposite casing end, an operating screw fixedly attached to said turning ring and positioned centrally lengthwise said'casing axis, said operating screw being threadably connected through the brush head and capable of passing therethrough for sliding same lengthwise of said casing as the turning ring is rotated.

2. A demountable shaving brush adapted for carrying in the pocket, comprising a tubular casing suitable for a handle member, threaded at one end and formed with an external flange collar at the opposite end thereof, said casing also being provided with a longitudinal internal Wall slot, a shaving brush head with bristles attached slidably mounted within the threaded casing end, pin means mounted in the side of the brush head for engaging the casing wall slot and sliding therein, a flanged turning ring threaded at the open side, rotatabl mounted on the opposite casing end, sai flanged ring engaging the casing end flange and rotatable thereon, a lock disc fixedly mounted within said turning ring and positioned to engage the casing end, an operating screw fixedly mounted within the center of said lock disc and extended lengthwise of said casing, said operating screw being rotatable with the turning ring and threadably connected through the shaving brush head pass ing therethrough for sliding same lengthwise the tubular casing as the turning ring is rotated.
