T'msses.; v u a c b Invennr WMM/M' i M #MMM UNITED STATES OLIVER WILLIAMSON, OF COVINGTON, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN PICTURE-EXHIBITORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 189,980, dated April 24, 1877: application filed March 23, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVEE'WILLIAMSON, oi' Covington, in the county of Miami and State of Ohio, have invented a new and lmproved Photograph-Exhibitor; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a plan View. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a side elevation with a portion ofthe casing broken away. Figs. 4 and 5-are details to be referred to.
The object of my invention is to provide a novel and economical photographic exhibitor; and my invention consists in hinging separate- 1y a series of mats to carry the pictures in the bottom of a casing, and having the hinges operated by means of small crank handles or knobs protruding from the sides of the casing, as hereinafter described and claimed.
In order that those skilled in the art may make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the manner in which I have carried it out.
In the said drawings, A is a case or box, paneled and ornamented around its sides in any desirable manner, and-"provided with a transparent top, B. Along the lower edges of the casing, equidistant and opposite each other, are short saw-kerfs a a, through which project the crank handles or knobs b b, formed of Wire or other suitable material. These crank handles or knobs are in'one continuous piece With the holders c c, which clasp the mats d, in which are placed the pictures. The mats are so located that the handles move them in either direction through an arc of about ninety degrees, so that in either direction the plane of the picture stands in an nngle ct' about forty-live degrees, and is easily viewed through the transparent top B.
The manner in which the Wire is bent to form the mat -holder and crank-handles is shown in Fig. 4; but it may be located only along the bottom of the mat, as shown in Fig. 5, and the mat be secured by means of the eyelets i fl. 4
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The cabinet or case A, provided with openings a a, in combination with the mat al and mat-holders c c, provided with the handles b b, all constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose described.
OLIVER WILLIAMSON.
