This invention relates to toilet articles, and its general object is to provide a face powder dispenser that keeps the powder and puff free roni dirt and dust, is sanitary and can be filled and used in an easy and expeditious manner, prevents waste and is ornamental.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the

reference numeral 1 indicates the base of my device which as shown is relatively flat, and may be of any ornamental design, with a bead 2 extending about the outer edge of the upper surface thereof as best shown in Fig ure 3.

The base 1 in the form as shown is circular and a concavity 3 is provided in its upper surface for the purpose of receiving a powder puff, not shown. Disposed about the concavity 3 is a pair of concentrically arranged grooves a which may be of annular shape, but in any event they are curved, and arranged in one of the grooves is the lower end of the staionarv wall or section 5 of a housing, while the outer wall or section 6 is slidably mounted in its groove 4. The sections 5 and'6 are transversely curved and are inclined upwardly to give the tapered appearance as best shown in Figure 3, and the section 6 is slidably mounted in its groove to be disposed in overlapping relation with respect to the section 5, with the result it acts as a closure for the device as will be apparent. If desired a knob 7 can be secured to the section 6 to facilitate the operation thereof.

Resting upon the upper edge of the sections 5 and 6 is a ring member 8 that is provided with concentrically arranged grooves 9 to ac commodate the upper ends of the sections 5 and 6 as shown in Figure 3, and the ring member is flanged as at 10 to provide a shoulder for receiving the lower flange 11 of the annular body 12 of the powder container.

The body 12 is provided with an upper flange 13 forming a shoulder to receive the rib 14 of a cover 15 that has secured thereto a knob 16. By providing the respective flangesv and associating the ring member, body and cover as shown, it'will be apparent that these members are disposed in interfitting engagement with respect to each other.

Secured to the ring member 8 in any Well known manner is the bottom 16 of the powder container which is in the form of a concaved 7 downwardly extending disk shaped piece of 89 screen wire. The bottom 16 also acts in the capacity as a partition between the powder container and the housing, but of course the primary purpose thereof is to support the powder within the powder container. I

' The base has formed therein a bore 17 which communicates with a recess 18 that extends into the bottom of the base, and passing through the'bore 17 is a threaded stud or bolt member 19 that receives a nut and washer as shown in Figure 3, and the stud is formed with the lower end of an upright 20 which acts in the capacity as a handle for the device, and this handle is not only secured to the basel, but is likewise connected to the body 12 of the powder container, through the medium of a bridging member 21 that is-secured to the body by a screw bolt 22 and has extending from its outer end a threaded stud 23 which passes through a bore formed in the handle 20 as shown, and the stud receives a nut 24 for fixedly associating the bridging member to the handle.

The handle 20 may be of any ornamental design, and of course the device in its entirety may be made from any material and decorated to enhance its beauty. Any number of toilet articles may be associated with the base 1 and I have shown recesses to accommodate a rouge receptacle 25 and a lip stick 26.

From the above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that I have provided a powder dispenser that is sanitary and easy to use, and when it is desired to fill the device, the powder is placed in its container above the screen or bottom 16. In the use of the device, the putt normally rests in the concavity 3 but is removed therefrom and by patting the puff against the screen, a sufficient quantity of powder can be obtained on the puff, for customary use.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the; several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A powder dispenser comprising a base adapted to receive a powder puff, a housing supported upon said base and enclosing said puff, a door for said housing, a powder container supported upon the housing, a cover for said powder container and a screen between the powder container and housing.

2. A powder dispensing device comprising a base having a concavity formed therein for receiving a powder pull, a housing rising from the base, a sliding door for the housing, a-powder container supported on the housing and disposed in communication therewith, and a concaved screen constituting the bot tom Of'the powder container and extending into said housing.

3. A powder dispensing device of the character described comprising a base having a concavity formed therein for receiving a powder puff, a housing rising from said base and including a stationary section and a movable section, the movable section being slidably mounted and providing a door for the housing, a powder container resting upon the sections and disposed in communication with the housing, a cover for the powder container and concaved screen constituting the bottom of the powder container and extending into the housing.

4. A powder dispensing device comprising a base having a concavity arranged therein for receiving a powder pufi, said base having concentric grooves disposed about the concavity, a housing rising from said base and including a stationary section received in one of said grooves and a slidable section received in the other groove, said slidable section constituting the door for the housing, a powder container including agrooved portion receiving the upper edges of the sections, a cover for the powder container, and a screen providing the bottom of the powder container and separating the container from the housing.

5. A powder dispensing device comprising a base having a' concavity arranged therein to receive a powder puff, said base being provided with'grooves disposed about the concavity, a housing including a stationary section having its lower end received in one of said grooves, a slidable section having its lower end received in the other groove, said slidable section providing a door for the housing, a powder container resting upon the sections, a cover for the powder container, a screen providing the bottom for the powder container and separating the container from the housing, and a handle for the dispenser and having connection with the base and powder container.

6. A powder dispenser comprising a base having a concavity formed therein, ahousing secured to and rising from said base, a sliding closure for said housing, a powder container supported upon said housing, a cover for said powder container, a screen dividing the powder container from the housing, a handle for the dispenser and secured to and rising from said base, and means for connecting the handle with the powder container.
