Description

Dec. 6, 1932. L. P. PEREZ CIGARETTE AND MATCH CONTAINER Filed May 10. 1952 3% when loam/'5' B P62 6 5,
Patented Dec. 6, 1932 CIGARETTE AND MATCH CONTAINER Application filed May 10, 1932. Serial No. 610,381.
This invention relates to cigarette cases and match holders, and has for an object to provide a combination case embodying new and improved features of convenience and dependability. V
A further object of the invention is to provide a cigarette case composed of hinged sections, one section of which is provided with a separate chamber properly proportioned to 19 receive matches, and a cover for said chamber carried by an arm closing the cigarette compartment.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cigarette case composed of hinge-d sections, with a partition extending transversely through one of the sections forming a separate compartment, with a closure for said compartment forming a'match receptacle.
The invention therefore comprises hinged 20 sections each of which forms a cigarette receptacle, with spring fingers for holding the cigarettes within the sections, one section being provided with a transversely extending partition, and a cover member carried by one of the spring fingers closing the compartment.
The drawing illustrates embodiments of the invention and the views therein are as follows:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved cigarette case and match holder,
gigure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view, an
Figure 8 is a'longitudinal sectional view through a slightly modified form.-
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The cigarette case comprises sections A 40 and B hinged together at O with fastener D and spring fingers E of substantially and usual and ordinary type.
One of the sections, as for instance the section A, is provided with a transversely extending partition 10, and one of the spring fingers carries a cover 11 for closing the compartment formed by the partition 10. Preferably, this spring finger is provided with an angular offset 12 for strengthening the connection with the cover member 11. The
cover member 11 is provided with a cut-out 13 which accommodates the fastening member D, also serves as a means for engaging the cover by the finger nail for openingthe compartment. This compartment is intended for containing matches as indicated at 14 in Figure 2 and opens upon thehinge O to which the finger E is connected. Opening the cover 11 to the position 11 allows access to the matches 14, contained in theco-mpartment.
Instead of forming the partition as shown at 10 in Figures 1 and 2 remote from the hinge C, it may also be formed as shown at Figure 3 adjacent to the hinge, and here numbered 15.
The cover for the match compartment here shown as 16, is likewise secured to the finger E but adjacent to the hinge so that when the cover 16 is raised to the position 16, it like-4 wise uncovers the match compartment. In either case, the cover member is carried by the spring fingers which are ordinarily found in cigarette cases for holding the cigarettes r within their respective sections when the sections are separated upon their hinge.
Of course, the cigarette and match container, herein illustrated, may be modified and changed in various ways without departing from the invention herein set forth 9 and hereinafter claimed.
The invention is hereby claimed as follows:
1. A cigarette and match container com- 85 prising hinged sections contoured to hold cigarettes, spring fingers for maintaining the cigarettes in the sections, a partition extending transversely across one of the sections, and a cover for the compartment formed by such partition carried by one of the spring fingers. V
2. A cigarette and match container comprising dished sections hinged together and provided with fastening means, spring fingers hinged to the hinge of the sections and extending oppositely over the sections, a partition formed transversely of one of the sections, and a cover member carried by one of the spring fingers and closin the compart 10 ment provided by the partition.
3. A cigarette and match container comprising hinged sections, a compartment formed in one of said sections remote from the hinge, spring fingers hinged to the hinge of the sections, and a cover carried by one of the spring fingers closing the compartment.
4. A cigarette and match container comprising hinged sections, a compartment formed in one section adjacent to the hinge, spring fingers hinged to the hinge of the sections, and a cover carried by one of the spring fingers closing said compartment.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
LOUIS P. PEREZ.
