GERTRUDE F. WATERSAND GILBERT A. WATERS, OF SHARON, CONNECTICUT This invention relates to a device for waving hair upon the head, and comprises two or more combs of s which are arranged one above the other with their teeth pointing upward and having their backs joined together by bars, which are pivoted to the upper comb in a semi-rigid manner, and to the other that the lower comb several directions to the head.
The object of the an article of this kind that shall be simple,
, easily applied and redurable and efficient moved.
Another object bei of this class that shall retain its position in the hair in a positive manner, and produce a satisfactory wave to the hair.
With these and other objects in View, our
invention consists in figures of reference parts in all of the views, but it is understood that slight changes departing from the In the drawing Figure 1 shows a device in position for being inserted into the hair.
Figure 2 shows a similar view, but with the combs in the position inserted into the hair and in position for holding the wave.
Figure 3 18 a cross the relatlve positlon when the combs are Figure 4 shows a the combs as shown Referring to the drawing l The device comprises, two or more combs 10 and 11, which may be straight or curved HAIR WAVING COMB Application filed September 22, 1931. Serial No. 564,308.

Letters Patent, is-
as desired or of any suitable shape and size and whlch are formed with the backs or ribs These combs 10 and 11 are secured together in an adjustable manner by the bars 14; the upper ends of which are pivoted to the back 12 of the comb 10 by the rivets 15 in a frictional manner; that is, that the position of the comb 10 with respect to the bars 14 may be retained in any position desired by the The lower ends of the bars 14 are secured to the back 13 of the comb 11 in a perfectly freely movable manner by the rings 16 which are passed through the holes 17 and 18 which are formed in said bars 14 and the comb Inthis manner it will be seen that the lower comb 11 may not only be moved endwise with respect to the upper comb 10, but may also be swung inward or outward in such a manner that both of the combs will con form to the shape of the head and lie close thereto, as shown in Figure 3. V
In the operation of the device, it will be noted that the combs 10 and 11 are inserted into the hair from the bottom or lower part of the head upwards, and after being properly inserted one comb is moved sidewise with respect to the other, thus producing a wave in the hair between said combs.
The hair is then sprayed with some suitable solution that when dry will retain the wave which has been placed therein by the c Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to procure by 1. A hair waving device comprising a plurality of combs, and link means inter-connect ing said combs, the connection between one end of said link means and one of said combs consisting of a frictionally retarded pivot and the connection between the other end of said link means and the other 01 said combs comprlsmg a freely movable pivot.
2. A hair Waving device comprislng a plurality of combs, link means having pivot means engageable With one of said combs and additional link means having freely movable pivots inter-connecting said first named link means and the other of said combs.
In testimony whereof We aflix our signatures.
