SHAVING BRUSH Filed April 2. 1931 1:12. 6220a A mvzn'roas ATTORNEYS Patented Sept. 27, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT VOFFIICEFYJ JESUS R. SILVA AND ANTONIO KRAHMER, OF EL PASO, TEXAS SHAVING BRUSH Application filed April 2, 1931. Serial 110.527.5256.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in brush construction and more particularly to those forms of brushes having detachable connection with the handles therefor and which embodies among other characteristics means for yieldably retaining same in position for use.
An additional object of the invention consists of locking elements for the brush elements cooperating with the yieldable retaining means whereby the brush heads may be readily removed and replaced when the retaining means is subjected to abnormal pressure.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of the invention partly broken away to illustrate the particular connection established between the handle and brush head.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the handle per se illustrating by dotted lines the relative positions of certain of the retaining means for the brush head.
Figure 8 is a side elevation of the yieldable retaining means.
Figure 4 is an elevation of the brush head per se and locking elements therefor.
Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line 55 of Figure 1.
Figure 6 is a view similar to Figure 4 showing the brush head enclosed within a sanitary form of transparent carton.
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates generally a handle having a sleeve 11 fitting on the reduced portion 12 of the handle and frictionally engaging therewith. A reduced cylindrical socket portion or bore 13 is formed within the handle portion and in communication at its outermost end with the pocket 14-. in that portion of the sleeve member 11 extended outwardly and beyond the adjacent extremity of the handle.
A compression spring 15, arranged within the pocket portion 18, is sprung at its outermost end against the adjacent side of a disk member 16. A brush head 17 receivable within the pocket 14 carries studs 18 thereon out-- wardly projecting therefrom upon diametrically opposite sides thereof for accommodation within bayonet slots 19 in the walls of the pocket portion 14;. The studs 18 will be held against accidental displacement within the bayonet slots 19 due to the fact that the disk 16 reposing against the innermost end of the brush head 17 will be forced by the tension of the spring 15 to yieldably retain said studs against accidental displacement. The slots 19 are provided at their inner ends with recesses 19 which are adapted to receive the studs 18 when the head 17 is inserted in the sleeve 11 and turned therein. The spring 15 will hold thestuds in the recesses of the slots so that the head cannot accidentally turn in the sleeve.
As shown in Figure 6 of the drawing the brush bristles are dipped or otherwise impregnated to a certain height with a suitable soap solution whereby the user may start lathering the face after dipping the bristles in water.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention, what is claimed is:
A shaving brush comprising a handle having a reduced cylindrical socket leading in from one end thereof, a sleeve mounted upon the handle and surounding said socket and spaced therefrom, said sleeve having diametrically arranged slots leading in from the edge thereof, said slots being provided at their opposite inner ends With recesses comprising bayonet sts,'a coil spring located in the socket of the handle and having one end portion extending into the sleeve, a disk secured to the last-mentioned end portion of the spring, a head having bristles and adapted to fit snugly within the sleeve and in contact with the disk and compress said spring, said head havingdiametrically disposed laterally extendingstuds adapted to enter the bayonet slots and alternately engage with the recesses thereof. I V Y In testimony whereof We afiix our signatures.
