` BRUSH CONSTRUCTION Filed Feb. 28, 1931 ATTO! NIV Patented Sept. 2,7, 1932 rEsUs n. SILVA AND ANTONY KRAHMEROF EL rnsdrnxns v BRUSH CONSTRUCTION Application led February 28, 1931. Serial No. 519,181.
This invention relates to sanitary shaving brushes especially designed for barbers use, and has for an object the provision of a brush handle and separate sets of bristles individually arranged in a sanitary container and impregnated with a suitable soap solution so that a separate set of bristles may be pro-vided for each customer as well as separate soap.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a brush handle .of novel construction, to which the bristles may be quickly attached, and from which they may be quickly removed, the bristles being of an inexpensive character so that a customer may be served with a minimum amount of eX- pense.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details :of construction to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a sectional view of a sanitary shaving brush constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view on v the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a detailed view showing a set of bristles removed from the handle.
Figure 4 shows a set of bristles arranged in a sanitary transparent container.
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the brush which is shown in Figures 1 and 2 is provided with a metal handle which includes a barrel 10. This barrel is provided at one end with an opening 11, and its opposite end is closed by means of a cup shaped member 12, from which extends an internally threaded socket member 13. The cup shaped member 12 is slidable within the barrel 10 and its outward movement 45 may be limited by any suitable means. In-
ward sliding movement of the cup shaped member 10 is yieldingly resisted by a spring 14, one end of which bears within the cup shaped member while the opposite end bears against the inner end of the barrel.
Removably or threadedly secured within the socket member 13 is one end of a shank 15 whose opposite end carries a hook 16 and is disposed within the socket 17 provided Within handle extension 18, the latter forming the wardly so that the bristles 19 may be readily removed and another set or bunch of bristles substituted.
It is preferred to supply these bristles in individual transparent sanitary containers 21, as shown in Figure 4C of the drawing and to impregnate these bristles with a soap solution as indicated at 22. Thus each customer may be provided with an individual set of bristles and individual soap.
The invention is susceptible of various other minor changes and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the claim.
vWhat is claimed is:
A shaving brush comprising a handle including a hollow barrel of equal diameter throughout its length, having a closed inner end provided with an opening, a cap fitting within the opposite end of the barrel and serving as a closure therefor and provided on the inner surface thereof with an internally threaded socket, a rod extending through the opening of the closed end of the barrel and threadedly engaging with the socket member of the cap, a spring surrounding said rod and abutting at one end with the closed end wall ofthe handle and at its opposite end with the interior of said cap for peri mittng movement yof the cap under spring tension in a, direction toward the closed end Wall thereof, a, rusto-conical shaped socket abutting with the Closed end Wall of the barrel, said rod being provided with a hooked extremit disclosed Within said socket, bristles exten ing in the socket and detaohably engaging with said hook. l In testimony whereof we ax our signatures.
