Description

A. DONATO Aug. 2, 1932.
HATBAND Filed Nov. 4, 1950 In uenior Allomey Patented Aug. 2, 1932 UNITED s ANTHONY DONATO, OF SCHENECTADY, NEW YORK HA'IBANID Application filed November 4, 1930. Serial No. 493,453.
This invention relates to new and useful I improvements in hat bands, and more particularly to novel means whereby the hat band can be secured to the hat without employing f stitching.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a novel hat band provided with means whereby the same can be readily attached to or detached from the hat without marring the hat or band.
In the drawing Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a hat equipped with the novel band.
' Fig. 2 represents a fragmentary edge elevational view of the novel band.
Fig. 3 represents a fragmentary inside elevational view of the band.
Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of one of the fastening elements.
Referring to the drawing for the purpose of illustration wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be'seen in Fig. 1, that numeral 5 represents the hat equipped with the novel band structure, generally referred to by numeral 6. This band is of generally conventional construction, the same comprising the bow structure 7 the end of the band which extends therefrom a short distance, and theend of the band which extends completely around the hat.
Each end of the band is equipped with one of the novel fastening elements which is generally referred to by numeral 8. This novel fastening element is clearly shown in Fig. 4, the same being of U-shape with its bight portion waved as at 9. The leg portions 10 are substantially parallel with the extremities thereof pointed and bent backwardly as at 11. One of these fastening elements is provided for each end of the band 6. The fastener is attached to the band with the bight portion thereof extending through v the band, so thatthe leg portions with their hooked ends will extend outwardly from'the 59 of the band a substantial distance inwardly end of the band in the manner shown in Fig.
of the extremity thereof whereby to maintain the hand drawn taut around the hat.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that various changes may be made within the scope of the following claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is i 1. In a hat band of the type described having a knot formation near one end, a hook 0 fastener on the said one end having its hook directed away from the inward side thereof, a second hook fastener on the remaining free end of the band having its hook directed away from the outward side thereof, so 66 that the hooks will engage the band when it is mounted on a hat.
2. In a hat band, a hook fastener disposed near one end thereof so as to extend on the inward side thereof, and a hook on the remaining end of the band disposed to extend on the outward side thereof, whereby all of the hooks will engage the band when it is mounted on a hat.
8. In a hat band, hook fastener means on one side of one end portion of the band, hook fastener means on the other side of another portion of the band, whereby said hook fastener means will engage the hat band when it is mounted on a hat. 1
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ANTHONY DONATO.
