IMPROVEMENT IN TRussEs.
Specilication forming part of LettersPatent No. 186,760, dated January 30, 1877; application tiled September 13, 1876.
To all whom Iit may concern:
Be it known that I, EBER H. RYNO, ot' Wayland, Allegan county, State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Trusses; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and clear description thereof, which will enable others to make and use my improved trusses.
This invention relates to a peculiarly-con` structed abdominal supporting-yoke, so applied by the useof a body band and retaining-straps in the front and back, and provided with hinged or tlexible perineal pads and with lifting-spring hernia pad or pads, as may be required, so as to eii'ectually close the abdominal rings, thereby preventing the downward movement ot' the peritoneum and other membranes permitting the hernia.
The elastic front retaining-straps also so adjust the yoke with its hernia-pads, when the wearer thereof is inaJ stooping or sitting posture, as to prevent any displacement of the pads, or admit ot' a side slip of the injured parts; also, the application ot' the perineal pads .so as to assist, by supporting the perineum, in holding up the bowels, and relieving the hernia-pads of the usual strain placed upon them.
It will be readily understood that my improved truss is also remedial for piles, which are so often the result of hernia.
It will also be readily understood that my improved truss Will act very beneficially as an abdominal supporter Without the hernia-pads attached thereto.
In order to'more fully describe my inven- 4 tion, I refer to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specitication.
Figure'l is a front view ot' my improved truss as applied to the person ot' the wearer. Fig. II sis a side view of' my improved truss.
A is the abdominal supporting -yoke, to which is attached, at a a, the body-band B. C C are the retaining-straps, fastened at c c to the hinged parts D D of the 'yoke A, and to the body-band at d d. E E are the liftingspring hernia-pads, fastened at e e to the inner side of the yoke A. F F are the ilexible perin'eal pads, fastened atff to the hingsd parts D D of the yoke A. The perineal pads are self-adjustable in any required position, owing to the parts D D being hinged at g g, and also pivoted at h h to the yoke A.
Having thus described my invention, I desire to claiml. The yoke A, with the hinged and pivoted parts D D, the lifting-spring hernia-pads E E, and the ilexible perineal pads F F, in combination with the body-band B and the retainingstraps C C, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The yoke A; with the hinged or pivoted parts D D, and the ilexible perineal pads F F, in combination with the body-band B andthe retaining-straps C C, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
