This invention relates to highway markers, and more particularly to a marker which is adapted to be visible during both the day and the night.

` An object of this invention is to provide a reecting marker which is adapted to reflect the light of an approaching vehicle so as to.

illuminate the marker for determining the position of culverts, curves, bridges, or the like.

`Another objectof. this invention is to provide a marker of this kind with means whereby the indicia carried by the marker may be visible during both the day and the night, i5 the face of the marker being illuminated by the light of the approaching vehicle.

. A further object of this invention is to provide a marker of this kind which may be readily and cheaply manufactured and which may. be mounted on any desired supporting post. 4The above and various other objects and advantages Iof this invention will in part be described in and in part be understood from the following detailed description of the present preferred embodiment, the same be- T ing illustrated' in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1V is a detail front elevationv of a device constructed according to the preferred embodiment of this invention;

In the present disclosure, the frame sec' tions 12, when mounted in the pipe or sup-` port 10, form a shield, but I do not wish to be limited to this particular configuration, as the frame sections 12 may be constructed so,l as to form any other desired configuration. A securing band and 17, which band is adapted to hold they two plates in tight engagement with thereflccting element 18, and this band 19 is disposed within the channel frame sections 12. I claim 1. A highway4 marker of the character desections, means r`for hlnging one end of each frame section together, complementary stem members formed with the opposite end of each frame section, means for securing said stem in a supporting member, a ,prismatic plate mounted in the frame sections, indicia positioned on one face of said plate, a reecting element disposed in the frame and engaging against one face'of the plate whereby to reflect light projected against the face of said plate and means disposed within the frame and engaging about the plate and element to hold the plate and element in con- 5 tacting relation.

These markers may also take the place of the marking members .which are at present in use designating curves or danger points on the highways and while I have disclosed the marking members as being colored green for the front or approach side on the right side of the road and red for the danger marker, I do. not wish to be lim- -spirit thereof, such changes and modificadisposed within the block section.
