Among the principal objects which the invention has in View are: to enable hair to be waved with simultaneously formed parallel crests; to grip the hair at one part and enable a wave to be made by sliding pressure of the operators linger; to prevent the device from opening when hair is applied therebetween; to readily apply and adjust the device tothe hair; to secure simplicity of construction and operation; and to yobtain other advantages and results as may be brought out in the following description.

'I l Furthermore, one of the members, which for conveniencewill be designated as the body member, :comprises inner and outer portions 13, 14 respectively, which are fast with f respect to each other but longitudinally spaced from each other so as to permit depression of a transverse tress of hair therebetween in a wavy configuration. The major parts of said waver and outer portions are preferably soy arranged as to be in a common plane or curved surface, and the outer, or hinged member V12 is arranged to pass through or cross that plane or curvedsurface of the body portion in closing the hinged member, so that the tress of hair lying across the hinged member will be pushed up between portions of the body portion and assume a wavy configuration', thereby simultaneously forming a pair of parallel crests. A hair Waver as characterized comprising spaced hair engaging frames, and a looped hair engaging element pivotally supported With vrespect thereto, said hair engagng frames being substantially parallel for most of their length, the inner frame Widening adjacent the end for enabling the operator to insert a nger therein.

3. A hair Waver as characterized comprising spaced hair engaging frames, and a looped hair engaging element pivotally supported With respect thereto, said hair engaging frames being substantially parallel most of their length, the inner frame Widening adjacent one end enabling the operator to insert a finger therein, said loop Widening at its pivoted end to pass between the Widened inner frame and the outer frame.-

4. A hair Waver as characterized comprislng a plurality of hair engaging frames hinged at one end, said members adapted to y be opened at the opposite end, one of said members having interlocking means at the opening end adapted to be disengaged by a lateral movement of the other said members.

5. A hair Waver as characterized comprising a pair of hinged members, said members adapted to be opened at one end, one of said members rovding'upstanding lateral loops limiting t e position of the other member in closed position, and the upstanding lateral loops functioning to retain said other member locked in said upstandinoP loops.
