Description

Ap'il 12, 1932. M. JAcoBY ET ALy 1,853,976
ADJUSTABLE WIG Filed Aug- 27, 19:51
Patented Apr. Y1.2, 1932 STATES MEYER JAeoBY AND ALBERT M. ZALKIND, or NDW YORK, N. Y.; sAID zA'LxINDI AssIeNon 'ro sAID rAcoBirv ADJUSTABLE WIIIG Application led August 27, 1931. Serial No. 559,628,
This invention relates to wigs generally and more particularly to wigs adapted for use in connection with millinery display figures, or wherever a hat is worn with the 'said wig. One of the objects of the invention is to produce a wig section for millinery display figures, comprising the lower portion of the Wig, the upper edge of which is enclosed in a substantially wide protective band or bind-v tially in the novel arrangement and co-rela- A tion of parts herein fully described, and illust-rated in the accompanying drawings, wherein similar reference characters are used to describe corresponding parts throughout the several views, and then finally pointed out and specifically defined and indicated in the appended claims. v
The disclosure made the basis of eXemplifying the present inventive concept suggestsV a practical embodiment thereof, but the inj vention is not to be restricted to the exact details of this disclosure, and the latter, there- V fore, is to be understood from an illustrative, rather than a restrictive standpoint. 1
A In the drawings accompanying this specication Figure 1 is a front view of a millinery display figure showing my invention as'appliedl thereto. Y 1
Fig. 2 is a perspectiverview of my improved wig-and Y Fig. 3 is a sectional view thereof taken on line 3-8 Fig. 2.
Referring now to the Adrawings in detail 5 indicates our improved wig which comprises a hirsute *stripv or wig section 6 having va foundation 7 The top edge of thewig is V enclosed by a folded over band orfstrip 8, made of fabric or other suitable material, and
row of stitches A9;
is secured tothe hair or wig sectiony 6 by a` To suspend the wig from the head of a millinery display figure 10 orfrom a human head we provide ya strip of tape 11 at thek front of the wig and a strip of tape 12 which -is connected to the tape 11 at 13 and tothe rear of the wig at 14.
In ,thel form of our invention shown in Fig. 1 the strips 11 and 12 are preferablyfmadepof elastic tape or webbing so that the wig may be adjustable and t different sized heads.
.In Fig.l 2 we have shown the tape 11 secured vat one end to thefoldedover band 8 j by stitches 16, and at the opposite end of the tape 11 we have shown same as provided with one member 17, of aV snap fastener adapted 'to be received in .any one of a series of complementary `members 18 ofthe sa'id snap fastener. The said strip ortape 11 is also provided at the centerthereof with apart of a snap fastener and the tape 11. with the complementary members 18. f
It will be understood that the upper tape 12 prevents the wig from dropping downwardly and the front tape 11 holds the wig snugly around the head. Y
lWith theV above arrangement the wig is adapted to be used for various sizes of display heads and thus avoidthe necessity of having a different wig for each size of head as was formerly7 the common practice.
It will also be seen that due to the edge .bandV or binding 8 thelife and appearance yofthe wig is greatly enhanced as no amount of putting on o-r taking off of the hat 20 will marl or destroy the edge of the wig.
' From the foregoing, it will readily be seen thatwe have provided a neat wig to be used for millinery displayv and other purposes, and
v scope of the appended claims.
l one that may be readily adjusted to vfit variv Having described our invention what We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A Wig comprising a hirsute strip, alJ protective band enclosing the upper edge of the said "strip, fan elastic tjpe vconnecting 'the endsiof 'the said Strip.
2. A Wig comprising a hirsute strip-aprotecti-ve-band enclosing theupper-edge of the said strip, an elastic ta'pe connecting tlie ends of the said strip, and a second elastic secured to the rear of the Wig and tothe lirst mentioned tape.
3. A Wig comprsingnili'irsute Strip, apo-v tective band enclosingtlie upper edge of the said stripfzind -ni'eans "for adjusting the said strip to fit various sizes ofhead's.`
4. Awg'coniprsinge hirsutes'trip, a, p roteftive band enclosing'theupper edge of the ASfaicbstrp, 'a tepe :for adjustably connecting the free ends 'of tl1e'saidstrip,` asecond tape "secured 'at *one end ft'liereof to the Wig, and means at tlieother end of the saidse'cond'tape for adju'stzibly' 'securing y'safletothejirst"inenftioned tape.
55. Wg'cemprising. their section adapted "to -fitarouildthe ofthe wearer, "ein elstc member connecting the ends thereof, and
a' tape' secured Yto the -haifr section `and to the 'elastic member to prevent thewi'g from slipping downwardly.
6. AWg Comprising afhrsu'te strip adapted to fit 'around the heed of the wearer, V:aln elas- 'ticmember Connecting the ends thereof, and
'a Asecond elastic member secured to the hir- 'sute 'strpfto prevent the Wig from slipping downwardly.
In'te'stimo'ny 'whereof We hereunto 'flx our signatures. Y I, y MEYER JACOBY- ALBERT ZALKIND
