Application filed March 10, 1931. Serial K057521567.
The object of this, my present invention, is the provision of a prophylactic as well as a sanitary cover for toilet seats designed after use to be deposited in the bowl and directed into the sewer upon the flushing of the bowl,
and in which the cover comprises two substantially elliptical members shaped to correspond withthe shape of the toilet seat, the inner member being of water proof paper 1 and the outer member being in the nature of a soft downy paper tissue, that affords a soft seat for the user, will protect the user from colds, while the water proof paper will prevent any moisture on the seat penetrating the downy tissue and from coming in contact with the occupant of the seat. 6
A further object is the provision of a toilet seat cover provided, at one of its ends with a tab, one portion of which is designed to be arranged beneath the seat for holding the cover on the seat and which tab is also designed to be folded over the cover when the latter is folded upon itself so that a large number of covers thus folded .may be arranged in a comparatively small container therefor. i
To the attainment of the foregoing the in vention consists in the improvement herein after described and definitely claimed. r In the drawings; Figure 1 is an elevation showing a toilet seat cover in accordance with this invention, the same being retained in folded condition 4 in accordance with this invention. 7
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through a toilet bowl showing the cover on the seat therefor.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the cover.
slight modification.
proximately on the line 55 of Figure 3.
As disclosed by the drawings the seat cover 1 is of elliptical formation corresponding bowl 3 on which seat the saidco'ver'is arranged. The cover. has centrally adhesively or otherwise fixed to one of its reduced ends and upon its upper face a substantially rec tangular tab 4:. The tab has one of its cor- Figurer is a similar view illustrating a with the shape of the seat 2'for the toilet ners projecting beyond the inner and outer edges of the cover 1 and when the cover is folded tothe position disclosed by Figure 1 of the drawings these pointed ends of the tab are brought over the inner and outersurfaces of the said folded cover. By this arrangement a large number of covers may be folded into a compact package so that the same can bestored in large numbers in a comparatively smallcontainer.which, of course,
is suitably arranged in the lavatory. The covers may be dispensed by an attendant or 7 may be delivered through a coin'c'ontrolled slot machine. Each cover 1 includes an inner facing or member 5 of water proof paper and an outer cover or facing 6 of soft downy tissue. The cover 6 is preferably of paper floss and is provided, throughout its length,
' with suitable depressions 7 If desired and as disclosed by Figure3 of thedrawings the tissue 6 may be arranged over the entire face of the water proof paper 5 or as disclosed by Figure 4 of the drawings-the downy tissue may be cut in segmental strips and positioned upon the opposite elongatedsides ofthe outer faceofthesheet5. i i
The soft" tissue is comparatively thick with respect to the thickness'of the paper 5. The paper 5 will prevent any'moistu're which is accumulated on'the seat from penetrating8 therethrough and thereby insures the user. 7 of the seat against discomfort and disease. The tissue 6 provides a warm seat for the.
user and will prevent him from catching cold which is common with the use of the ordinary 8- v uncovered toilet seats. The inwardly projecting corner of the tab is designedto be arranged beneath the rear'of the seat 2 to be contacted thereby which will effectively hold 7 the cover in proper positionon the seat. Y
Having described the invention, I claim:
l 1. A prophylactic sanitary coverfor toilet seats, comprising an elliptical member and having a tab centrally. secured to the under face at the rear the'reof, and projecting beyond the inner and outer peripheries of the cover, said tab, when the cover is arranged on the toilet seat, designed to J have its in wardly projecting portion underlying and V to be contacted by the toilet seat and said 1 tab, when the cover is folded, adapted to be bent over the said folded cover.
2. A prophylactic and sanitary cover for toilet seats, comprising an elliptical member 5 constituting two sections, the inner section being of water proof paper and the outer section being of a comparatively thick soft downy tissue, and a tab centrally ffixedfto the inner face at one'end thereof andextending l0 beyond both the inner and outer peripheries ofthecover. 1
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
GUST. F. GRAMMAS.
