Description

D. B. GEOFF.
V FARM FENCE. No.184,61Z. Patented Nov.21,1876.
Wfnemes. I in vmfar fence patented by F. W. Groff, No. 88,782 on Iran STATES PATENT QFFICE.
DANIEL B. GEOFF, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
IMPROVEMENT IN FARM-FENCES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,612, dated November 21, 1876 application filed June 26, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL B. GEOFF, of Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Fences, of which the following is a specification:
This invention is an improvement on the the 13th day of April, A. D. 1869, and consists in notching the brace or tie which fastens the panels together, and fastening the two ties together by pins which pass through both In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, Figure l is an elevation, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section.
The same letters are employed in both figures in the indication of identical parts.
A A are panels, made up of boards or rails nailed to vertical posts A,'which rest on the ground or on proper pedestals, and, being ar-' ranged like a worm-fence, are fastened together by the ties B, which are notched to fit the end postsof panels, and so that the ends may pass through the panels and project on the opposite side of the fence, where they are secured by long pins 0, which pass through holes bored in the ends of the two ties and bear against the face of the panel on the side bearing against the face of the post and pressing toward it, and the strain at the other bearing against the pin which connects the ties, and which should be long enough to bear against all the boards or rails in the panel.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The panels of a worm-fence formed of boards or rails nailed to posts placed on the opposite sides, in combination with the notched parallel ties B and long pins 0, passing through the ties and bearing against the boards or rails, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence oftwo subscribing witnesses.
