Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
ERNEST M. BEMENT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND JOHN S. SINEY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE BATHS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,321, dated November 14, 1876; application filed October 24, 1876.
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST M. BEMENT, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Bath; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a portable bath, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of my improved portable bath.
A represents an ordinary case or wardrobe of any suitable dimensions, provided with a hinged door, B, which may be fastened, when closed, by a lock and key, hook, or any other suitable fastening. 0 represents a bathtub, secured to or on a wooden bottom or platform, D, which is hinged at its inner end to the upper side of the bottom of the case or wardrobe A. The outer end of the bottom D is provided with feet a a, so that when the tub is thrown down for use it will stand level, or nearly so, the inner end being supported Within the case A, upon the bottom thereof.
When the bath-tub is not in use it is raised up on its hinges, and entirely concealed within the case or wardrobe A.
On the back within the case A is secured a shelf, E, glass G, and drawer H, to form a convenient wash-stand; and suitable hooks may be also arranged within the case or wardrobe to hang up clothes.
The tub is intended to be emptied, when used, by means of a siphon.
ERNEST M. BEMENT.
