IMPROVEMENT IN MUSTACHE-GUARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,317, dated November 14, 1876 application filed June 10, 1876. v
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIJAH AVEY, of Mount Morris, in the county of Ogle, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Mustache- Guard and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures ot' reference marked there- Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a perspective view of my mustacheguard, and Fig. 2 shows the same applied to a cup.
This invention has relation to mustacheguards; and the nature of my invention consists in a mustache-guard, which is provided with clasps on its ends, in combination with a loop adapted to receive a napkin, and also to afford an outside bearing against the cup, as will be hereinafter explained.
In the annexed drawings, A designates a drinking-cup ofthe usual well-known form, and B is a mustache-guard, which is adapted to tit the inside of the cup, and which is constructed with a concavity, a. To this guard wire clasps are applied; also a loop, O. vThe clasps are formed of vertical portions b b', which embrace lthe edge of the cup and hold the guard in its proper place, as represented in Fig. 2. The portions b b are connected by the loop G, between which and the guardplate B is a space, which is adapted to receive a napkin. The loop O and the clasps may be formed of" a single wire, as shown in the two figures.
My mustache-guard is adapted for cups of various sizes, and can be readily detached from the same at pleasure, and used as a napkin-holder.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combined mustache-guard and napkinholder, composed ot' the guard-plate'B, clasps b b', and loop O, combined substantially as described.
