Description

Jan. 12, 1932. o E. WAHLBERG SUPPORTING DEVICE Filed March 24, 1931 RNEVS @nmwdQ Patented Jan. I 12, 1932 UNITED STATES OSWALD WAHLBERG, OEPIl-VANSION, rumors surronrme nEvIon.
Application filed. March 24, 193i. ise ia no. 524,981. h j
broom, mop, brush, garden tool or other ob-' ject provided with a handle, from an upright support.
Other objects will appear herelnafter.
The invention consists in the novel com bination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
' The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings showing the preferred form of construction,
and in which: i V
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the invention as associated with a brush;
Fig. 2 is a sectional detail view on an enlarged scale and on the line 22 1n Flg. 1, illustrating a preferred construction of the invention; and
Fig. 3 is a view slmilar to Fig. 2 but showa ing the manner of detaching the article, in this instance a broom, from the hook embodied in the invention.
Referring to the drawing whereina practical embodiment of the invention 1s'1llus trated, an upright surface such, for example, as a wall, as indicated at 10, and screwed into i this surface 10 is the threaded portion 11 of a screw element 12 which has a substantially S-shapedhooked end portion 13,;the screw 12 carrying a guiding cap 14, if desired.
handle 16 upon which the sleeve 17 of the invention is mounted in any suitable manner, as by frictional engagement, the upper end of the sleeve 17 having a hole 18 formed therein as defined by the internal flange 19.
In use the portion 20 of hooked end 13 will be introduced through the hole 18 so that one end of this portion 20 will be disposed under the flange 19 (Fig. 2) whereby the sleeve 17 A broom is indicated at 15 and includesa and article 15 will be suspended in vertical. position. 7
In removing the article 15, which may be, I as has been said, a broom, brush, tool, etc., the sleeve 17 and handle 16 of the article are tilted 5.5
into an angle (Fig. 3) with the surface 10 which will permit the flange 19 to he slipped off the end 20' of the hook 13, as seen in F ig. 3. 7 o
The invention thus provides a single and (In convenient device for supporting, in vertical position, any tool or article which has a handle upon which the sleeve 17 may be fitted either rigidly or detachably.
While I have illustrated and described the a;
preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification, without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not w1sh to be limited to the precise 7 I details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. A device for supporting in a vertical position from an upright surface articles provided with ahandle, comprising a sleeve 8 adapted to be fitted on the said handle and having a hole in its upper end and an internal flange on the sleeve around said hole, and a screw member insertible into the surface and I including a hook element insertible through 8 said hole in such a manner that a portion of said hooked end will engage under said flange.
2. A device for supporting in a vertical 7 position from an upright surface articles provided with a handle, comprising a sleeve adapted to be fitted on the-said handle and having a hole in its upper end and an internal flange on the sleeve around-said hole, and a screw member insertible into the surface and including a hook element, said hook element v including an end portion extendingsubstantially parallel to the body of said screw member and insertible through said hole in such a manner that said end portion will engage under said flange.
V 3'. A device for supporting in a vertical I position from an upright surface articles provided with a handle, comprising a member adapted'to be fitted on the said handle and having a hole in its upper end and an internal flange on the member around said hole and a screw member insertible into the surface and including a hook element, said hook element including an end portibn ex tending substantially parallel to the body of said screw member and inserti-ble throughv said hole in such 'a'manner that said end portion will engage under said flange.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. J
OSWALD E. W-AHLBERG.
