Be it known that I, GEORGEYD. MOULTON,
citizen of the United States, residing at Denison, in the county of Grayson and State of Texas, have inventedcertain new and useful "Improvements in Magnetic Safety v Razors, of which the following is a specification. e A
This invention relates-tosafety razors and more specifically to the incorporation in such a razor of apermanent magnetic means.
a magneticarrangement in the razor for the purpose of enabling the razor blades to be picked up and placed in position upon the razorwithout the initial use of the fin- Another object the vinventionis' that it" obviates the need of a plurality of apertures usually present in arazor blade or element edgesafety razor for immovably securing The invention also has for an object, a razor of the nature set forth capable of being manufactured at a nominal cost; and
' tainer with stem attached; and
40 Figure 7 is a plan View of the blade supdurable and having a "neat and attractive appearance. v
Proceeding in accordance with the drawin s annexed hereto i .igure 1 is a front elevational view of a safety razor embodying the'in'vention.
, Figure 2is alongitudinal section of Figv ure 1'.
Figure 3 represents a longitudinal section on Figure, the latter figure'being a side 716W. v
Figure 5 is a bottom view of the blade re- Figure 6 shows the blade with apertures;
stem 1. The stem is adapted tobe inserted in the hollow handle 5, the l'atter'having' a screw cap v6. A blade s'ulpporting member 3 has an-aperture C, see igure 7, for. the
purpose of 'conformably receiving thev en-' larged portion 1 of the stem and blade retaim'ng member 1.- The razor blade 2 and.
its supporting member 3 have likeapertures b and, 0 through which the enlarged portion 1 is passed when the blade is in operable position.
he-magnetic means comprises. a magnet 3 secured'to the blade supporting member 3 and has a collar 4: through which the stem P is inserted the collar being passed into the handles to hold the magnetinposition.
'By'the above arrangeme'nt,it willbe seen that when the cap 6-1s' unscrewed the stem l and r'etainer'l maybe lifted out and the blade removed. The magnet is thus exposed and can be placed against a new blade to pick up andmove it into position-without ,in'itially using the fingers to take up the blade. I I p In Figures 8, 9 and 311 are illustrated a modification of the magnet and the arrangement for securing it to the handle and other parts of the razor. In this arrangement the magnet is longer and difierently shaped and the stem '1 is shorter. and is adapted to be seated in asolid handle 5. The handle is is screwed onto the stem.
.Figure 10 shows, a further modification and wherein the stem is shorter and the cap 6 has a tubular extension 6 which is screwed onto the'stem 1 The collar l is-like-wise longer and to it the handle isscrewed.
It should be -understood that further changes may be made in the. arrangement and construction of the razor without (leparting from the spirit and meaning of the following claim.
What is claimed is: In a safety razor, a substantially U -shaped magnet having an aperture in its base, a blade support carried by the free ends of the legs of the magnet, -a blade on the support, the support and blade each having an aperture alined with the space between the legs of the ma et, a handle engaged at .one
' also screwed onto the collar 4 and the latter end with the ase of the magnet, a blade holder having astem extending through the blade and support apertures and disposed in the space-between the magnet legs, an'aperturedconneeting member arranged in the said aperture of the base of the magnet and receiving the lower. .end of the stem in its aperture, said handle having'threaded conor to clamp the handle.
In testimony name 'to this specification.-
blade upon rotation of the 10 I whereOfi I have signed my EORGE D. MOULTON.
