IMPROVEMENT IN SHADES FOR THE EYES.
- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,687, dated October 24, 1876; application filed June 2, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY G. KROMEB, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Eye-Shades; and Ido hereby declare the following to be a clear and exact description of the nature thereof, sulficient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to fully understand, make, and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in which the figure is a perspective view.
My invention consists of an eye-shade attached to a skeleton frame, which may be securely and comfortably held on the head of the wearer.
Referring to the drawings, A represents an eye-shade, which may be of any we1l-known or desirable form and material. To the shade there is attached a skeleton frame, formed of wire, bands of metal, orother material, and consisting of the part B, which extends rearward from the sides of the shade A, and it is to fit round the head after the manner of the body of a hat or cap, and the crown part 0,
which is secured to the middle of the rear of the shade and the rear of the part B, and is to curve over the top of the head and fit thereagainst.
It will be seen that the frame may be readily placed in position on the head of the person requiring to wear the shade, and thus support the shade over the eyes for purposes well known, the part B preventing lateral displacement of the same, and the part 0 preventing downward displacement thereof, and a simple and practical appliance is produced.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An eye-shade provided with a skeleton frame, consisting of a body portion, passing around the head, and a crown portion passing over it, for supporting the shade on the head, substantially in the manner set forth.
