IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-CHIMNEV CLEANERS'.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,293, dated October 17',` 1876; application filed `September 9, 1876. v y
To all whom -it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL T. FEEEsE, of North Amherst, county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Lamp-Chimney Cleaner, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists in the arrangement of two dat bow-springs secured to a handle, thebow of the springs being adjustable by a screw at the end of the handle, and also by a coil-spring which permits the bow-springs to yield more Or less for chimneys of different sizes. The flat springs are covered with tufts of yarn.
Referring to the drawing, which is a side elevation in part section, Ais a rod or handle,
to one end of which the springs B are attached, and() is a slide, to which the movable ends of the springs B are secured. A coiled spring is placed upon the rod A, between the handle E and slide C. The handle Eis capable of slidingon the rod A, and is moved by a nut, F, that engages with a thread on the lsaid rod. The springs B are covered with tufts of yarn or vother suitable material.
The springs B can be expanded by turning up the screw F to t a chimney of any size. 'lhe spring D affords a yielding support for the slide C, so that the springs B may be forced into a chimney Without danger of breaking it.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The covered springs B, spring-pressed slide C, and adjustable handle E, with a rod, A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
