Be it known that I, HENRY FLETOHER,.3.,

siding at Shelby, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Holders, of

My invention is a device for holding doors and window sashes in a firm position while the same are being planed or fitted for the door or window casing or frame.

The invention is illustrated in the accom- Figure 1, is a side elevation. plan view. Fig. 3, is a detail.

Secured on the bottom of the standard is the plate 6 having an angular piece cut out of its center leaving the two prongs 7 extending at an angle. The end ofthese prongs (8) relation to the plate 6, thus bringing the flat side of said prongs to bear on the side of a door placed between said prongs.

Rigidly secured at the top of the standard 1 and extending at right angles thereto are the forked arms 9, 10. The arm 9 is shorter than the other arm, and has the curved lever '11, pivoted thereto. This lever carries the circular disk 12 at its forward end, its rear end being flattened to provide a bearing face 13 as will be described further on.

When in use the bottom side of the door rests on the plate 6, the prongs 8 bearing on each side thereof. The upper end of the door is now pushed in between the forked arms 9,

Having now described my invention, what I claim is 1. A door holder comprising the base plate having the upwardly extending flanges, the vertical standard carried by said base plate and having a forwardly turned upper end,

.and the folding legs for supporting said standard in an upright position, said forwardly turned upper end being forked and provided with an automatic clamp, substantially as described.

2. A door holder comprising the base plate having the upwardly turned projections, the vertical rod having a forwardly bent forked upper end, the rigid collar near the lower end of said rod, the sliding collar on the upper portion provided with means for securing it against movement, the folding legs or braces pivoted to said adjustable collar, and the stay rods extending from the rigid collar to the braces, substantially as described.
