PRICE TAG HOLDER Filed Aug. 28, 1930 Patented Oct. 13, 1931 UNITED STATES JOHN P. SIEBE, QF SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA PRICE TAG Homanv Application led August 28, X930. Serial No. 478,415.
The invention relates to devices for holding price tags on articles of merchandise and has for its object the provision ofra price tag holder including a frame having means to removably support a price card or the like, and provided with means adjustably mounted on the frame to hold the frame and the price card on the article of merchandise.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a price tag holder consisting of a plate of sheet metal provided with means to hold a price tag thereon, and means slidably engaging side members on the plate and adapted to clamp an article of merchandise therebetween and support the plate in position.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a price tag holder comprising a plate of sheet metal having its edges turned and spaced from the plate to provide means to support a price card, the plate having cut out portions forming tongues bent back on the plate and spaced therefrom intermediate of their ends to provide guides to slidably engage rods to hold them adjustably on the plate to clamp an article of merchandise therebetween and hold the plate supported thereon.
rlhe invention will be described in detail hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a view in perspective of the improved price tag holder showing it applied to an article of merchandise,
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the price tag holder,
Figure 3 is a rear view in elevation, and
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 4 4 of Figure 3.
In kthe drawings similar reference characters are used to designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The price tag holder, as illustrated in the drawings, comprises a plate l having its bottom and Vend edges returned on the plate as shown at 2 and 3 respectively, the returned portions being spaced from the adjacent surface of the plate to provide means for supporting a price card or tag 4. The body of lli the plate is provided with integral tongues 5 andv 6, formed Abyfcu'ts made in 'the plate and bent upwardly 'as jshow'n, said tongues 'being spaced apart. Intermediate ofthe tongues 5 and 6, the plate is providedwith a tongue, also formed by c'uttin' theV plate, said tongue being bent 'downwar ly and located between the tongues 5 and '6. The tongues 5, 6 and 7 are each provided with an outwardly bent portion 8, intermediate of the ends of each torrgue,-said outwardly b'ent portions being alined and providing guides for rods or wires 9, said rods "or wires be'- ing slidable in said guides, one end of the rods being shaped as shown at l0 to engage opposite sides 'of an article' of merchandise designated A, while the other ends of the rods are provided with outwardl bent flanges formino' lugs or stops, as indicated at ll, to limit the movement of said rods into merchandise engaging position, and to prevent the rods from inadvertently sliding out of the guides 8.
By providing the upwardly bent tongues 5 and 6, and the downwardly bent tongue 7 intermediate of the tongues 5 and 6, it will be apparent that the portions of said tongues integral with the plate provide means by which the rods or wires 9 are held from lat eral movement relativel to the tongues and are securely held in adyjustable position on the plate. The ends 10 of the wires or rods are shown in the drawings to be substantially at right angles to the rods, this structure being adapted to secure the price tag holder on a rectangular package of merchandise. It will be understood, however, that the ends 10 may be shaped otherwise for securing the holder to articles of different shapes.
What is claimed is 1. A price tag holder, comprising a plate of sheet metal having means to hold a price card, rods slidably mounted on said plate and adapted to engage an article of merchandise to hold the plate in position thereon, and uide means on said plate enclosing and slida ly mounting said rods for adjustment relatively thereto.
2. A price card holder, comprising a plate of sheet metal having means to hold a price Y l card, tongues formed in the plate by incisions A made therein, said tongues being folded on the plate and spaced therefrom intermediate of their ends providing guide loops, and rods 5 slidably mounted in said guide loops and adjustable therein to engage an article of merchandise to hold the plate in position thereon. 3. Aprice tag holder, comprising a plate of sheet metal having means to hold a pricev 1o card, tongues formed on theplajge by incisions/4 made therein, said tnguesbeing arranged v in staggered relation, folded on the-plate. inv Y Y opposite directions alternatel and spaced from the plate intermediate o their ends toy 15 provide Y guide loops, and rods AslidablyA `,mountedin said guide' loops 'andi adjustable therein'to engage an article of, merchandise ,to-hold the plate in' position thereon.- l
