proved collapsible display stand for cookies and the like] in which the cookies may be displayed in such a manner as to be readily visible to the eye. 1

A further object of the invention is the provision of an improved collapsible display stand in which cookies or the like may be advantageously displayed in transparent suitable containers bearing appropriate advertising matter whereby advantageously to display the cookies and the advertising matter of the manufacturer to public view.

An additional object of the invention is the provision of an improved collapsible display stand which may be conveniently packed and transported and conveniently and eX- peditiously assembled for use.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of an improved construction of the character described herein which will provide space for suitable advertising matter to be advantageously displayed thereon.

The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafterdesoribed and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, showing the preferred form of construction and in which:

Referring to the drawings wherein a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated, indicated at 10 and 11 are similar side wall portions or Wings of my improved device which may be formed of any suitable material as will best serve the purpose, paper board or the like being a'preferred material. As best shown in Fig. 1, these side portions 10 andll are hingedly connected along the lines 12 and 13 in any suitable manner to an upright portion 14 which, provides the front wall of my improved display stand. Provided in the side portions 10 and 11 at the rear end thereof are similar downwardly depending tongues 15 and 16 which in assembling my invention, are inserted into'slots 17 and 18 provided in the rear wall portion 19.

Providedin the side wall portions 10 and 11 are L-shaped notches or steps 22 which are arranged in terrace like formation, that is,

- there is a gradual ascent from the front end to the rear of the stand in the height of these notches relative to the bottom edges of the side portions 10 and 11. Notches 23 are provided in the side portions 10 and 11 adjacent the .frontends thereof and the apices of these notches 23 are disposed somewhat above the corresponding portions of the adjacent notches 22.

Attached in any suitable manner to the front wall portion 14 is a tongue portion 24 which has hinged connection along the fold line 25 with a reenforcing strip 26 in which slots 27 are provided and, as best shown in Fig. 5, the strip 26 in assembled position of the stand rests in the notches 23 with portions of the side walls 10 and 11 engaged in the slots 27. It is manifest, therefore, that the reenforcing strip 26 prevents the side walls or wings 10 and 11 from spreading.

In the use of my invention packages of cookies or the like are extended between and supported on the side walls 10 and 11 and retained in the notches or steps 22 and it is;

manifest that the angular arrangement of the notches 22 and the gradually increasing height or terrace arrangement thereof from the front to the rear of the stand provides a construction in which the packages of cookies will be advantageously exhibitedin the line of vision of persons near or Walking by the stand and in this manner the packages of cookies are effectively displayed for sale,

Suitable space is provided on the relatively high rear wall portion 19 and on the front and side portions of the stand for displaying advertising matter of the manufacturer of the cookies.

From the foregoing description of my in- 'vention it is manifest that I have provided an improved collapsible display stand which while effectively displaying packages of cookies or the like for sale Will be simple and economical in manufacture and which while effectively serving its other objects will permit of economical and convenient transportation and expeditious assembly.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification, without departing from'the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is Collapsible display stand comprising a front wall member and side wings hinged thereto and provided with terraced steps for supporting articles thereon, a rear wall member provided with slots, tongues on said Wings removablyengageable in said slots for maintaining the stand in upright position, and a reenforcing strip hinged to said front wall and provided with slots for the reception of the upper edge portions of said wings.
