VIOLA. MCPHILLIPS, 0F MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE i RADIATOR ORNAMENT A],iplicaton filed .August 19, 1929. Serial No. 386,982...
My said invention'relates to provide a device for locationron kan automobile radiator which shall ypreferably consist of a hollow translucent ligure suitable to the Christmas season, though other devices symbolic of other holidays or `seasons are within the scope of my invention.
Referring to the drawings, which are made a part of this application and in lwhich similar reference characters indicate simliar parts:
Fig. 1 is a perspective of my device, 0
Fig. 2 a vertical section showing the interior construction, andI f Fig. 3 a detail in plank of a part of a bracket.
In the drawings, reference character 10 indicates a bracketin the4 formy of a strip of` sheet metal for attachment to a radiator cap,
l11 through which a bolt at the top of the cap may pass, though other methods of attachment may be used. yNear the end the farthest from opening in a downwardly bent `portion of the stripKV 11 I have provided another opening to receive a bolt 12 said bolt also passing through an kopening in a suitable figure or symbol 13,'
here shown as consisting of a representation of Santa Claus. The variousvparts of the figure may be suitably colored in obviousl manner though no claim is made to any par.- ticular coloring or any particular ligure or symbol. As here shown at'lll andv l5 in Fig. 2 a part of face against which the head of the bolt may rest and another iat'face resting against a step formed bythe lower-most part of strip 10. Other parts of thefgure also rest against the bracket as indicated at 16 and the bottom.
of the figure rests on the extension 17 of the bracket, all with the purpose of Aproviding a secure and steady engagement of the iigure with the bracket so that it will not be loosened by the vibration of the automobile.
An angle iron 18 is secured to the bracket an illmninatedv ornament and itis-an object-.of the same to vof an electric light socket 21 and y the figure between the -feet isA flattened at opposite sides to provide a flatk of the invention and therefore I do not limit myself to what is shownin the drawings and described in the specification but only as indi'- l cated in the appended claims.
Having thus fully described my said inven. tion, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: n
1. Axradiator ornament comprising a hollow symbolical figure of translucent material,
a bracket adaptedto be supported on `an au-fo vtomobile radiator, means for attachingthegure to the bracket, means on the brackety f for supportingan electric lamp withinsaid figure, and means for connecting the lamp to a source kof current; substantially as set; forth.
2.` A radiator ornament including a brack et consisting of a flat' metal strip having a perforation at one end to fit on the neck of aradiator and bent at the'other end to form I astep, a hollowk symbolic figure standing on the step, a bolt securing the figure releasablyto a downwardly extending portion of this iron being shown device may be changed in many ref spects all without departing from the spirit! 1' the strip, afsocket on anvintermediate porl tion of the strip extending intoan opening in said figure, and a bulb supported by said socket within said ligure, substantially as set forth. y
3. A radiator ornament including a bracket Y consisting of a flat metal strip having aper foration at one end to fit on the neck of a radiator and bent at the other end to form a step, a hollow symbolic igure standing on the step, a bolt securing the figure releasablyy to a downwardly extending portion of the strip, an anglel iron on an intermediate portion of the strip7 a Second angle iron connected to the irst for adjustment about a horizontal axis, a socket on the second angle iron, and a bulb supported by said socket within said figure, substantially'as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
