TEMPORARY Application filed April 16,
public or private.
The invention is particularly advantageous in the binding of blank forms when padded as it admits of any desired blank being easily and conveniently removed from the binder without disturbing the rest.
The invention contemplates a head to be attached to the back of a cover, plates re inovably connected to the head by projections thereon engaging $101.5 of the hearth a latch associated with the head to retain the book plates in place when in engagement therewith.
While the drawings illustrate a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that in adapting the means to meet specific needs and requirements, the design may be varied and changes in the minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the invention as claimed, without departing from the spirit thereof.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and the drawings hereto attached, in which:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention applied, the cover being open and parts broken away.
Figure 2 is a detail sectional view on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a perspective View of the hinder, the latch and the plate adapted to receive the hook or other article being detached.
Figure 4 is a front view of the device partly in section and with parts of the front broken away.
Figure 5 is a horizontal section on the line 5-5 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a sectional detail view on the line 66 of Figure 4.
The binder comprises a head or holder 1 and a plurality of plates 2, one being pro vided for each article to be attached to the head or holder. The head 1 is elongated and hollow and comprises a top 3, a back 4, a front 5, and ends 6. The head is adapted to Booms-innate.

the head beingreadily passable through the enlarged receiving endof thcslot 9, and the neck-being of a width tobe retained within theslot 9. Asindicated, the projections 16 are of T form and the receiving" slots 9 are.$5 of corresponding outline. /Vhenthe latch 11 is moved to clear theslots 9, the plates be readily applied to or removed from the head 1 andwhen applied to the head are prevented fromcasual disengagement by the several parts comprising the binder are 100 V .17 The numeral 1,5 des gnates a pad, or tablet and these projections are ofsuchformation formed from sheet metal, thereby providing an article which is light and adapted to be manufactured at a small cost.
WVhat is claimed is:
1. A temporary binder comprising a head embodying a back and front wall and a connecting top wall and having a slot extending across the front wall and terminating in a wider opening in said top wall, an article to be attached to the head provided with a projection passable into and out from said slot, and a latch mounted upon the head and comprising a plate having a lateral flange along its top edge to extend across and close the receiving end of the slot formed in the top of the head, and a finger piece connected with the latch and operable from a point without the head.
2. A temporary binder comprising a hollow head including a top, and front and back walls, said front having slots therein extending across the top and widened at their receiving ends, an article-supporting plate provided with projections adapted to engage the said slots of the head, and a latch mounted within the head and comprising a plate and a lateral flange, the latter being disposed against the inner side of the top to close the receiving ends of the slots formed therein, and a finger piece connected with the latch and serving as operating and retaining means therefor.
3. A temporary binder comprising a hollow head having slots extending across the front and top thereof and widened at their receiving ends, a plate provided with projections to engage the slots of the hollow head, a latch within the head embodying a plate and lateral flange, the latter being disposed against the under side of the top and adapted to close the reeciving ends of the slots, and a finger piece connected to the latch and operable in a slot formed in the top of the head to retain the latch in place and limit the sliding movement thereof.
4. A temporary binder including an elon gated hollow head having slots extending across the front and top thereof and widened at their receiving ends, article-supporting plates provided with projections passable through said slots, each of the projections including a head and a neck, a latch slidable within the head and comprising a plate and lateral flange, the latter being disposed against the under side of the top and adapted to close the receiving ends of the slots formed therein, and a finger piece connected with the latch andoperable in a slot formed in the top of the head.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
