Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180.543, dated August 1,1876 application tiled Y May 22, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EUGENE CAMPBELL, ot' South Vesterlo, Albany county, New York, have invented a new and Improved Snow- Shovcl, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a top View of my improved shovel; and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the sanne, taken through line ar w, Fig. l.

The invention will rst be described in connection with drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
A is the shovel-plate, upon the rear edge of which is a ange, B. C is the handle, which is secured to the plate A. To the upper side of the forward partof the plate A is attached a face-plate, D, the forward edge of which projects a little beyond the edge of the plate A. To the forward part ot' the lower side of the plate A are attached two or more runners, E, of such a thickness as to keep the edge of the plate D from coming in contact with the surface upon which the shovel is being used. The
runners E and plate D are cast in one piece, and the forward ends ot' the runners E are beveled or rounded off, so that the edge of the plate D and the forward ends otl the runners E will act as a chisel to adapt the shovel to be used for cutting ice.
