My invention is a combination ink stand and pen wiper in which an ink bottle is held in a stand and a pen wiper is incorporated with the lid of the stand.

An object of my invention is the construction of a combination ink stand and pen wiper in which an ink bottle may be inserted and clamped or locked in a stand which may be of any suitable shape. This stand is provided with a hinged or removable lid to which is secured a pen wiper, the pen wiper being positioned to form a cover for the open neck of the bottle when the lid is closed, and thus preserve the ink from dirt, leakage and evapc oration.

Another object of my invention is the construction of a combination stand in which the base of the stand is hinged to the wall or body or removably clamped thereto so that an ink bottle may be inserted in the stand with the base open, and the neck thrust upwardly through an opening in a horizontal partition. The `bottle may then be held in place` by a linger while the base is hinged. If the base is separate the bottle may be placed therein and the stand fitted over the base and bottle. The body or walls of the stand are indicated by the nu- 55 meral 14 and in the illustration the stand is shown as being rectangular, but it is to be understood that it may be made of any other suitable shape. The base. is preferably secured to one of the walls by hinges 15 which co may be of any suitable character and attaches to the front wall bymeans of a spring clip 16, or other equivalent device, which engages in a notch 17 formed on the front wall.

A horizontal partition 18 may be secured c5 to theside walls with an opening 19 therethrough. The walls have an upper extension 20 above this horizontal partition 18, provid ing a pen wiper chamber 21, the lower part of the ink stand forming a bottle chamber 22 70 in which an ink bottle 23 may be placed with the neck 24 extending through the opening 19 in the partition.

A lid 25 is secured to the upper extension of the walls by hinges 26 and secured to the 75 center of the lid on the inside there is a screwthreaded socket 27 in which is threaded a screw 28, this screw having a head 29 with a washer 30 thereunder.

A pen wiper, designated generally by these numeral 31, has a plurality of layers of fabric 32, each layer being of diminishing diameter from the layer next the lid of the outermost layer. Each of these layers has a central opening 88 therethrough so that the S5 layers may iit on the outsideof the socket 27 and have the screw 28 pass through these holes or openings. The washer 30 or the outermost pen wiper layer engages underneath the head of the screw and thus all the et layers are securely clamped in position. The pen wiper may also be secured simply by a pin having a large head. Each of the layers has a scalloped edge 84 to facilitate wiping the pens. A-clasp of any suitable character c5 851s utilized to secure the lid to the front wall of the ink stand and thus complete the closure. The under side of thepen may be cleaned by wiping on the edges of the discs and the upper side on the surfaces. This 1;9

In the construct-ion illustrated in Fig. 5, the base 36 has a flange 87V thereabouts and'has a plurality ,of springV clips 38 .which engage in notches 39 in the walls 4,0 so that by this construction the base may be'connectedto the walls by a straight reciprocatingmovement, the base and the body of the ink stand being held by the clips.
