Description

April 14, 1925.
' P. J. IHLING PASTE RECEPTACLE FiledUan. 17. 1925 I g mw Pa'u/ J f/i/flzg III- I Y Patented Apr. 14, 1925.
PAUL J. IHLING, OF KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN.
. PASTE RECEPTACLE.
Application filed January 17, 1925. Serial No. 3,014.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL J. IHmNG, a
' citizen of the United States, residing at the useful Improvements in Paste Receptacles,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in paste receptacles.
The main object of this invention is to provide an improved paste receptacle in which all the paste is accessible to the brush andat the same time the receptacle is stable and not likely to be tipped over.
Another object is to provide a paste receptacle comprising a holder orsupporting receptacle and a removable container whereby successive containers or fillers may be introduced to the holder.
Objects pertaining to details and economice of my invention will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims. A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this ap plication, in which: 7
' Fig. I is a vertical central section with the sealing disk removed and the brush and closure inserted.
Fig. II is. a side view with the cover and brush removed.
Fig. III is a side view of one of the containers and one of the sealing disks removed from the container.
Fig. IV is a fragmentary section of the container with the sealing disk in position.
Fig. V is a side view of the cover.
Fig. VI is a plan view of an open carton containing the holder receptacle and a plurality of containers and the cover removed from the holder receptacle,
In the drawing similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts in all of the views.
Referring to the drawing, I provide a downwardly expanding holder receptacle 1 having an externally threaded neck 2 adapted to receive the cover 3 which has a central extension 1 for the handle 5 of the paste brusln The receptacle 1 has an internal annular flange 6 constituting a supporting seat for the paste container 7 which has a shoulder 8 adapted to rest on this flange. The container has an outwardly projecting flange 9 overlapping the upper edge of the receptacle neck, and the main purpose of this flange be ing to prevent the paste working down between the container and the receptacle neck as would be likely to occur in wiping the brush across the edge of the container.
The container has an. internal annular groove 10 adapted to receive the edge of the closure disk 11 as shown in Figs. I and IV. Below this groove 11 is a shoulder 12 on which the disk 13 througl'i which the brush is arranged rests so that the sealing disk 11 may be removed and the container is then closed by the disk 13. A finger hole l l is provided in the bottom of the receptacle so that the containers can be pushed out of the receptacle.
The container is down ardly tapered so that all of the paste therein is readily accessible to the brush. The containers may be successively inserted in the holder as the paste is used, thereby making it practical to provide a receptacle of suitable design and material, the containers being plain glass or other material. These may be sold in sets as indicated in Fig. VI, a carton being indicated at 15 with six of the containers in a single receptacle.
This results in a very substantial saving both to the manufacturer and the customer.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
v 1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a holder receptacle having an externally threaded neck with an internal flange, said receptacle having a central finger opening at the bottom, a cover threaded upon said neck, a container removably arranged in said holder receptacle and having a flange at its upper edge overlapping the edge of said receptacle neck and and an external shoulder resting on said flange therein, said container having an internal groove adapted to receive a sealing disk and an internal shoulder below said groove, a removable sealing disk, and a brush having a closure disk attached thereto, said brush attached closure disk being adapted to rest on said internal shoulder of said container after said sealing disk has been removed.
, 2. In a device of the class described, the
combination of a holder receptacle having' an externally threaded neck With an in ternal flange, said receptacle having a central finger opening at the bottom, a cover threaded upon said neck, a container removably arranged in said holder receptacle and having flange at its upper edgeoveiw lapping the edge of said receptacle neck and an external shoulder resting on said flange therein,- a removable sealing disk for said container, and a brush having a closure disk attached thereto adapted to constitute a closure for said container after said sealing disk has been removed. 7
:3. Ina device of the class described, :the
' 'combinationo'f a holder receptacle having a neck-With an internal flange,a cover for said receptacle, a contalner 'removably arranged vin said holder receptacle and having an ex- -.ternal shoulder resting on said flange thereinxand-aninternal groove adapted to receive a sealing disk and an internal shoulder below said groove, a removable sealing disk, and a brush having a closure disk attached thereto, said "brush attached closure disk ing an'i'nternal groove adapted to receive a sealing disk i ndan internal shoulder below said groove, a removable sealing disk, and a brush having a closure d sk attached there- ,to, said brush attachedclosure disk being adapted tolrest on said internal shoulder of said containerfafter said sealing disk has been removed.
5. In a device of the class described, the combination or a :holder receptacle having a central fingeropening at the bottom, a cover for said receptacle, a container removably arranged in said holder receptacle, a,
removable sealing disk for said container, and a brush having a closur disk attached thereto adapted to constitute a closure for said container after said sealing disk has been removed.
In, Witness whereof I have hereunto set m-yhand,
PAUL ,J. 'IHLING.
