Patented Apr. 14., 1931 strata? l QE CHARLES LORBER, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY This invention relates to key cases such as are used for carrying keys in the pocket and has special reference to a flexible key case.
Key cases which employ metallic plates for carrying the keys are in some cases objectionable because of their lack of flexibility. Different methods have been attempted for providing a flexible key case but I have found no method which was entirely satisfactory prior to my invention of the key case forming the present invention.
One important object of the present invention is to provide an improved general construction of flexible key case.
A second important object of the invention is to provide an improved form of flexible key'case wherein the keys are attached to a flexible strip, the strip being preferably of like material with the case itself.
A third important object of the invention is to provide improved means for anchoring the keys to the key case.
With the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the improved key case open in one of its forms.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the upper part of such a key case in a slightly modified form.

Figure 8 is a view of the upper part of Figure with the keyhooks and anchors removed.
Figure 9 is a section on the line 9-4) of Figure 7.
Figure 10 is a view of one form of the anchor used herewith.
Figure 11 is a view of the second form of anchor.
Figure -12 is a view of a thirdform of an-r chor especially used with the construction shown in Figures 7 to 9. t
Figure 13 is a perspective view showing the last form of the hanger and disclosing the flattened head on the-hook shank.
In each instance the key case consists of a body having a central portion 10 and cover flaps 11 which may be folded over on the body and heldin folded position by snap buttonparts 12. This body is preferably z lined though I do not confine myself to any particular construction of body. Across the top of the body in Figure 1 extends a strip '13 of flexible material, the material being preferably like that used in the body and this strip 1 is secured at all'four of its edges by stitching 14.. In Figures 2 and 3 there is showna strip 15 which is formed from an extension of the body, being foldable on the frontline 16 and the other three sides ofthis strip are stitched to 'thebody as shown at 1'? in Figure 2. In both of these forms the strip is provided with a series of spaced slots 18. In the form shown in Figures 7 and 8 the construction is much thesame but it will be noted 1 that while the slots 18 of Figures 1 and 2 are rounded at the ends the strip in Figures 8 and 9 is provided with square ended slots 18 Through these slots extends the U-shaped central portion of an anchor member which is shown at 19 as being made of round wire for use with the form in Figures 1 and 2 and at 20 as being made of flat wire. Preferably on the legs of this member are provided flattened feet 21 as shown in Figure 10 though these feet may be simply extensions of the round wire as shown at 22 in Figure 11 or the whole device being of flat wire as in Figure 12 the feet 23 will also be fiat. Passing through this central portion in Figures 1 and '2 is a round eye 24 having an end 25 whereon is'swiveled a key hook 26. In Figures 7 and 8 there'is provided a; square eye or stirrup '27 having an opening in its lower end through which extends the shank 280i 2 key hook 29,, r I this shank being headed as at 30 to; hold it se-' 'cured'to the stirrup. f g r By this means each of thekey'hooks is attached independently to the strip and the 10 fiexibilityof thestripis not interfered with V so that the key case will 'fit comfortably in any pocket-of the Wearer'and Will yet hold the keys very securely. r 7' y There has thus been provided a simple and 1 eflicient device of the kind described and for r the" purpose specified.
Itis o-bvious that .mi or changesinaybe made in the forln and construction of the inivention without;departingv from the mate rial spiritthereof. It is not, therefore, de-
siredrto confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and "described, but it is desired to includeell such asproperly Come Within the scope claimed. 7 7 I .;l Having thus described the invention, What j Y isclairned as nemisz; I
