S. BQNAT ET AL FASTENING DEVICE Filed Jan. 50, 1926 Patented Aug. 10, 1925.
STATES SAMUEL BONAT AND HARRY BONAT, OF NEW YORK, II. Y.
FASTENING DEVICE.
Application filed January 30, 1326. Serial No. 84,860.
Our invention relates to improvements in fastening devices, and more particularly has reference to a device of the class described adapted for use in fastening transformations or the like upon the head.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, we have illustrated in Fig. 1, in perspective, a suitable form of fastening device, embodying an application of our invention. Fig. 2 shows the same opened out in position to be applied to the hair of the head, and Fig. 3 illustrates in perspective, a modified form of one part of the device.
4 indicates a suitable plate of metal or other suitable material which is preferably covered upon the inside with a sheet of rubber 5 or the like to increase the adhesiveness or friction of the same, and 6 indicates holes which may be formed in the margin thereof for stitching the same to a formation of hair to be applied to the head.
7 indicates a suitable form of comb which may be stamped out of metal or other suitable material, and the same is provided with laterally extending lugs or bearings 8, adapted to pass into the loops 9 formed at opposite corners of the base piece 4;, the said loops being of course preferably resilient, for which purpose the plate a may be stamped out of steel, hard rolled brass, or the like. The loops 9 are preferably elongated as shown, and the bearing members 8 are also preferably oval or elongated, so that there is a tendency always to keep the comb flat and parallel with the plate 4. Thus, in using the device, it is applied to the hair of the head while open, as shown in Fig. 2, and after the comb has been properly introduced into the hair of the head, the plate portion carrying the hair piece, is then pushed over and held tight against the head,
being covered by the applied hair until it is desired to remove the same, when it is only necessary to lift the applied hair, and the device may be readily withdrawn.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the plate 4 it will be observed is somewhat corrugated, or in other words, stamped or otherwise formed, so that the prongs or teeth of the comb will become seated or imbedded therein, thus providing additional bindingor friction for insuring a secure hold upon the hair of the head. This is further provided for by pressing the added hair piece and device against the head when it is applied.
Of course it will be understood that various modifications may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
I'Ve claim 1. In a device of the class described, a base portion, and means in combination therewith for attaching the same to a hair piece, and in combination therewith a comb pivotally secured thereto, said securing means being adapted to bind the comb against said base portion.
2. In a device 0f the class described, a base portion, and means in combination therewith for attaching the same to a hair piece, and in combination therewith a comb pivotally secured thereto, said securing means being adapted to bind the comb against said base portion, said base portion providing a seating for the prongs of said comb. I
In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures.
SAMUEL BON AT. HARRY BONAT.
