The present invention relates to animproved lamp shade fixture for attachment to the upper end of the stem of a lamp, and the purpose of the invention is to provide an improved fastening between the radial wires of the frame of the shade, so as to prevent the wires from pulling radially outwardly, and also to prevent turning of the wires.
Still another purpose is to provide a lamp shade fixture comprising an annular ring which is li-shaped in cross section, with the outer flanges of the ring formed with extensions, adapted to be clinched in circular shape when the radial wires of the shade are disposed in engagement with the extensions, so
as to clamp the wires in position.
Another purpose is to provide heads on the end wires of said frame, so as to assume positions in the lJ-shaped ring, the heads being rectangular in cross section so as to engage with the bottom of the U-shaped ring to prevent the wires from pulling out of the clinched extensions.
It is to be understood that the particulars her-in given are in no way limitive, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modification of details and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts to be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

Referring to the drawings, 1 identifies a ring, which as shown in Figure 4 is of a diameter to be screwed on a lamp bulb socket, while in Figure 2, S identifies a ring which may be attached to the stem 4 of the lamp.

In either case the ring is U-shaped in cross section, and can be any suitable diameter.
In each instance, however, the outer wall of the ring merges into an extension, which is U-shaped. This extension 5 receives the end portions 6 of the shade framerwires 7. After the end portions are disposed in posi tions the opposed flanges 8 of the extensions are clinched over and tightly in engagement with the wires, which wires are cylindrical in contour. The extremities of the wires have heads 9, which are rectangular in cross section, and the shoulders at 10 correspond with the walls of the extensions and prevent longitudinal movement of the wires, while the extremities 11 of the heads engage the inner flange of the U-shaped ring, thereby preventing inward radial movement.
Furthermore due to the heads being rectangular in cross section they engage with the bottom 12 of the U-shaped ring and thereby prevent rotation of the wires.
By a construction of this kind a much cheaper, practical and more compact lamp shade fixture can be constructed, and one which may be produced for a relatively low cost, and sold at a reasonable profit.
The invention having beenset forth, what is claimed is A lampshade fixture comprising a ring U- shaped in cross section, side Walls of the U- shape constituting inner and outer flanges, the outer flange having a plurality of cylindrical extensions being split, the extensions disposed radially of the ring, radial frame rods being cylindrical and fitting in said extensions, said frame rods having heads with adjoining shoulders for cooperating with the inner surface of the outer flange to prevent outward radial movement of said rods, the inner ends of said heads engaging with the inner flange which constitutes an abutment for the heads to limit inward radial movement of the rods, said heads being flattened and en gaging with the bottom of the U-shaped ring to prevent turning of the frame rods.
