BURGLARPnoer sooner Application filed March 19; 1e2a {Serial lIId BBflsFJQ; 1
This invention relates to improvements in wearing apparel, particularlyin the pockets of such apparel, and more particularly to. a burglarproof pocket, and it is the principal 5 objectof my invention to provide a pocket which is adapted to be securely closed in a curedto the material of the. garment and adapted to engage a slot in a reinforcing member formed on the upper edge of the pocket material, the tongue adapted to be turned ,about a hinge.
These and other objects and advantages 7 of my pocket will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically defined in the appended claims.
.In the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig; 1 is a fragmentary front elevation of a coat equipped with a burglarproof inner pocket constructed according to my invention, closed.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 22 of Figure with the pocket closed. F ig. 3 is a similar section with the pocket half open.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view ofa closure member.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view ofa pocket reinforcing member.
Fig. 6 is-a view similar to Figure 1 with the pocket half open.
Fig. 7 is a section on line 7 of Figure 6,
.ofthe A still further object of my invention is: the provision of a burglarproof pocket equipped with a closing tongue slidably se the lower ends of thea pper:or malepart ofitheilock a to; allow access; to the pocket, I .As il'lustrated, coat :10 .lrasformed there- ,with an inner pocket 1-1 in :the usual welil known-manner, the upper edge o fwhich .is
rein-forced by .an element .12 7 preferably made of light metal such as for instance aluminum, japanned tin etc, having an inner smember l3 adapted to be secured to the inner face o-fgthepocket near the upperedge o-f pocket, 11 by I suitable fasteningmeans passing through holes 14. Integra-l lyrna de'with member 13, is a imem-ber lo at the lowerwend 7 .thereof adapted to be, secured tofthe inner face of the pocket .11 by 'the sa ne fas'tening as i means securing member .13 to the. material closed at the bottom aslat 17 i .I;ntegral.with -the -upper edge olf ;pocket,.so "that a pocket {orslot 1 6 V :isformed between both members 13. and 15 15 /is ;li-p 18 "angularly-bent to {member .15 i
and adapted to grip overthe upperedge of- .materialll forming the pocket-and secured thereto iii-any well known suitable-manner" by fastening means as fori-nstance-eyelet .19 I
passed through openings 20 in lip 18.
To the inner faceof the material; oifjooa't 10 near the :upper end ofpjthe pocket 11 a strengthening piece 'of fabric 21 is stitched to which is securedone member 22 of a guide element for the pocket closure, by means of i a suitable fastening means passing through openings 24 of a reinforcing strip 25 and through openings23 in the upper edge of said member 22. Integrally made with member 22 and bent, at anangle thereto, but adapted to engage the inner face of member 22 are arms 26 which form with the arms 27 of the reinforce ing strip 25 guides for loops'28 formed at of which a tongue 30 is hingedly secured. as
The operation of mydevice is very simple and will be fully understood by the reading and 18 if the pocket is to of the specification and simultaneous inspection of the drawing. 2
' It will be understood that I may make such changes in the construction of my pocket as come within the scope of the appended claims without departure from the spirit of my invention. V
5 Having thus describedmy invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. Burglar-proof pocket comprising a slotted reinforcing member for the upper edge of the material forming the pocket, a member adapted to be attached to asuit near the upper edge of the pocket, a pair of arms formed with said member, a reinforcing member therefor, arms on said reinforcing v i member adapted to form a guide'with said first named arms, a pair'of 'sockets adapted' V to slide along said guide, a plate onjwhich said sockets are formed, and a tongue hingedj V ly secured to the upper edge of said plate and adapted to'enter in its lower position into the slot of said first named reinforcing member to close the pocket and'to allow a use of the pocket in its elevated position.
2. In a. burglarproof pocket, a keeper member and a member adapted to be secured to thejmaterial of a suit at the upper edge ofsaid pocket, said member comprising a blank adapted to be'secured to the material of the suit, a reinforcing member for said blank, arms formed with said blank and arms formedwith said reinforcing member "to form guides in their folded p0sitions,'0ne pair of arms against the otherpair, a sliding plate, sockets formed at the lowerend thereof, adaptedto'slide along the guide formed by said' pairs of arms, and atongue hinged F to the upper edge of said plate adapted to V engage in its lower position said keeper memher and in its elevated position allowing a 4c useof said pocket. 7
In Witness whereof I have signed my'name to this specification.
EMIL TEICHMUELLER.
