IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-CHECKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,976, dated J une '20, 1876; application filed I F April 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES HENRY SWIFT, of Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Door-Fastening, of which the following is a specification: I t
The invention consists in the improvement of door-checks by attaching to door-frame a curved or are bar having a series of bolt-holes, and so arranged as to pass through a slot of the bolt-case, as herein-after more fully described and definitely claimed.

A is the curved bar, fastened to the facing of the doorframe above the door, and having a series of bolt-holes, B; G is the spring-bolt, arranged vertically in a case, D, attached to the door, and connected, by bell-cranks E F and Wires G H, to the knob I, so that by turning the knob the bolt will be pulled out of the bar, to allow the door to swing. The spring J throws the bolt back into the holes of the bar to lock the door. on both sides, at K, to connect the bell-crank E, for right or left hand doors.
