WINDOW STRUCTURE.

The present invention relates to improvements in window structures and particularly to show windows such as are used in front of stores and the like.

An important object of the invention is to provide an improved sill cover and ventilated sash for such windows.

Anotherimportant object of the invention is to provide a combination structure of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, leak-proof, strong, durable, eficient, reliable, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

l/Vith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in ccrtain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed more l'ully.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that 1 designates a sill having the usual riser 2 thereon a distance from the front edge thereof. A sill cover 3 is disposed over the front edge of' the sill l in the usual manner and as a hook flange in its upper edge. A Ventilating sash A is disposed on the sill and includes the rear portion formed from an intermediate plate 5, au upper plate 6, and lower plate 7, all of' an integral formation. A depending flange 8 is provided on the end of the upper plate and a hoolr flange 9 is formed on the edge or end oit the bottom plate 7 and interlits with the hook flange et so as to provide a leali-proof joint.

Bars are usually placed at the corners of the window structure so as to hold the glass together and also where the two panes meet in the same plane. An improved structure of these bars is shown in Figs. 2 to l inelusive. The bar consists of two plates 17 having adjacent oppositely disposed hook flanges 18 at their abutting edges which are held together by a plate or strip 2O having curved over flanges 19 engaging the flanges 8 thereby forming a hinge which is easily adjusted to different angles. Retaining bolts are associated with the bars for holding them in place and consist of heads 2l corrugated as is shown at Fig. ll. These heads may be changed as is shown in Figs. 2 and 3 to conform to the plates 17 depending whether they are disposed on the corner or where two panes meet in the same place.

Shanks 22 extend from the central portions of the heads 21.

It is thought that the constructiomutility, and advantages of my invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof. It is desired, however, to point out that numerous changes in the details of construction, in the materials, in the combination and arrangement ofv parts, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacricing any of its advantages.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A bar for window construction, including a pair of plates disposed alongside of each other and having their adjacent edges provided with hoolred flanges extending in opposite directions, a strip having hooked edges for engagement with the hooked flanges for Jforming a hinge which holds the pair of plates together, and bolts having corrugated elongated heads engageable with said plates and said strip to brace and hold the same assembled, said pair of plates having their other edges provided with hooked flanges for engaging over the lends of the elongated heads of the bolts.
