IMPROVEMENT IN REVERSIBLE FIRE-PLACES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,752, dated June 13, 1876; application filed December 23, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. M. FERGUSON, of Moscow, in the county of Hickman, and in the State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reversible Duplex Radiating Fire-Backs; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
lhe nature of my invention consists in a reversible fire-back and heating or warming furnace, for heating or warming two rooms with one fire, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section of the same.
A represents an ordinary brick fire-place, made the same on both sides, and having the chimneyB extending upward from the center. This fire-place is supposed to be located in the wall or partition between two rooms, and to open into both.

Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with a fire-place situated between two adjoining rooms and open on both sides, the metallic fire-back G D, having its front 0 curved, and provided with a register-opening, d, on its vertical back D, as and for the purposes herein set forth.
