and a transverse section of a modified form of panel.
Figure 7 is a transverse sectional view of still another modified form of panel.
Figure 8 is a vertical sectional view of still another modified form.
A cap in accordance with this invention is primarily designed for use by workmen and is formed preferably of wash-proof material. The cap includes a sectional visor, a sectional band and a body portion referred to generally at 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The visor comprises an upper, a lower and an inner section referred to generally at 5, 6 and 7 respectively. The sections 5 and 6 preferably are formed of light, thin, washable material of any suitable design, but preferably such material corresponds to the material or fabric from which the body portion 3 is formed. The section 7 can consist of one or more plies of canvas or duck and which also is washable. The sections 5, 6 and 7 are connected together by rows of stitching 8 which are shaped in a manner to correspond to the contour of the visor 1.
The band 2 comprises an inner and an outer section 9, 10respectively. Preferably the outer section 9 is made from material corresponding to the material from which the body portion 3 or sections 5, 6 of the visor are formed. The section 10 is formed from a lin of any suitable character. The inner ec f the visor 1 is extended between the set s 9, 10 of the band 2 and is secured to the latter by row of stitching 11, and
-uch' =ow of stitc" rig is extended for the purpose of connectin the sections 9, 10 together in proximity to the lower'edges thereof, or
in othe words, the row of stitching 11 is common to the sections 9, 1.0 of the band an d visor 1. A portion of the section 9 is positioned upon the inner marginal portion of the section 5 of the visor 1 and a portion of the section 10 is positioned against the inner marginal portion of the section 6 of the visor 1.
See Figure 2.
The body portion 3 is of ashape to provide the top, front, rear and sides 'of a head covering and consists of an outer part and an inner part, the latter providing a lining for the former. The outer part includes reinforcing or stifiening means for maintaining it in an upstanding position to retain it from oh? the forehead of the wearer; The means referred to is independent of the inner part or hiring 4.
The outer part includes an integral section 12 formed of washable material, preferably material corresponding to that from which sections 5 andti. of the visor 1 and section9 of band 2 are formed. The section 12 at its front is provided wlth a pair of spaced cutouts whichextend from the bottom edge of' section 12 to the topthereot, Thecutouts are lndlcated at 18 and provide openlngs. The said-openings are closed by a pair of panelslel positioned against the pater i'ace of section12and secured t ereto by the rows of stitching 15. The rear of the body portion 12 is formed with a pair of spaced cutouts le which extend from the-bottom edge of section12 to the to thereof. VThe cutouts "loprovide openings which are closed by panels: li secure'd to section 12 by the rows of sti ching- 18. The panels-14L and 17 preferably are-constructed of a material correspending tothat from which the section 12 is formedand are offset with respect to the outer face or body portion 3 The paiiels'l are arranged 1n spaced, sidewise: opposed relation and have lnterposed 'therebetween a. portion of section 12 The panels 14 are termed the front pair of panels.
