IMPROVEMENT lN SHlRT-BOSOM SUPPORTERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0: 178,533, dated June 13, 1876; application filed December 13, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FREDRECK Koren, of the city of Chicago, Cook county, State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shirt-Bosom Supports, of which the following is a full description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a side view; Fig. 2, a front view with the parts extended; and Fig. 3, a front View.

The objects of this invention are to construct a flexible, and at the same time adjustable, shirt-bosom supporter, and also to provide devices for securing the same to the shirt; and it consists of a frame and cross-pieces, made in two parts, so that they can be extended, and provided with pins, to secure the same in place to the shirt.

Theside pieces of the supporter are made in two parts, A A representing the two parts of one side,'and B B the two parts of the opposite side. A is secured to a slide, a, and A to a slide, a, so constructed and arranged that the two parts can be extended, as shown in Fig. 2, while B B are secured to similar slides b b. C is the end piece, as shown. It is suitably connected to the side pieces AB by means of the corner-pieces 0; but it may be connected in some other manner. The two pieces D D constitute an adjustable cross-bar, constructed substantially like one of the side pieces, and secured to the side pieces A B by means of suitable connecting-pieces g. c 0 together form one cross bar, and d at another cross-bar, constructed in the same way as the side pieces, so that they can be lengthened or shortened by one part sliding over the other. These two cross-bars are permanently attached at their upper ends to the frame, and at their lower ends, as represented, to the corner-pieces e;

The side pieces, end piece, and cross-bar D D can most conveniently be made of thin strips of elastic metal, which may be covered. The diagonal cross-bars a a b b can conveniently be made of light spring-steel.

The device may be about eleven inches in length, about five inches in width at the top, and six inches wide at the bottom for ordinary purposes; and when made as described, the same can be extended so as to be considerably longer, and wider at the bottom.

In use the support is to be applied to the back side of the bosom, being held in place by the pins ft, and, being made of light material, it will conform to the movements of the party wearing it, and keep the bosom in place.

What I claim as new is as follows:

1. In an adjustable shirt-bosom supporter, the side pieces A A B B, end piece C, and cross-bar D D, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes Specified.

2. An adjustable shirt bosom supporter consisting of the side pieces A A B B, end piece C, cross-bar D D, and diagonal bars 0 c d d, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes specified.
