UNITED STATES tan-s35 Y PATENT OFFICE.
ADJUSTABLE HORSE.
Application filed August 6, 1924. Serial No. 730,343.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHANN VIDoN, a citizen of the Republic of Germany, and a resident of Evanston, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Adjustable Horse, of which the following is a specification.
h'ly invention pertains to an. adjustable horse and the object is to provide a durable and efficient device of this kind which is conveniently adjustable for length and for height.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the invention, partly broken away;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2; and
Figs. 4 and 5 are fragmentary sections taken on lines l4 and 5-5 of Fig. 3.
The preferred form of construction illus trated comprises a back or backing means and supporting means or supporting frames attached to said back, both the back and the frame means being arranged to be adjusted in order to vary the length and also the height of the device.
The back comprises a plurality of similar members or beams 8 provided with a plurality of openings 9 through which are placed bolts 10 provided with wing nuts 11 for holding the members 8 adjustably in position. Re-enforcing bands 12 are placed around the inner ends of members '8 and are provided with openings through which the bolts 10 pass. The bolts 10 may thus be placed in various ones of the openings 9 in order to vary or adjust the back for length.
The supporting means for the device comprises a plurality of frames, each of which includes a pair of downwardly diverging members orposts 13 having their upper ends secured to one of the members or beams 8. A pair of cross bars 14 are fastened to the lower portions of said posts 13 to retain them in position, and a brace 15 is fastened with its lower end between the intermediate parts of cross bars 1 1 with any suitable fastening elements, and is fastened with its upper end beneath the intermediate part of the associated backmember 8 with any suitable fastening means. A leg or member 16 is adjustably mounted on the outer side of each of the posts 13 and extends through a loop 'member or strap 17 which has its ends fas tened between cross bars 141. and posts 13. These legs are made adjustable on the posts by means of bolts 18 which are selectively placed in one of a plurality of openings 19 in said legs 16 and in either of the registering openings 20 in posts 18. With this construction a device is provided which is readily adjustable for length and also readily adjustable to various heights, and atthe same timeis durable and efiicient. lVhile I have illustrated and describec the prefered form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: A device of the class described comprising a back including a plurality of beams each having a re-enforcing band at one end, and having a plurality of openings and bolts engaging in said openings for adjusting said back for length and retaining said beams in place; supporting means including triangular frames each containing diverging posts secured at their upper ends to one of said beams and having cross bars connecting their lower ends; a diagonal brace member connecting said cross bars with said last mentioned beam; a loop member hav ng 1ts ends secured between a post and its connected cross bars; and-a supporting leg slidably extending through each loop member and being adjustably retained therein by the use of bolt means and a plurality of openin s on said post and said leg.
ln testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
' JOHANN VIDON.
