IMPROVEMENT IN PEDAL ATTACHMENTS FOR CABlNET-ORGANS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. I 78,357, dated J one 6, 1876; application filed March 6, 1876.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, BENJAMIN L. BOOMER, of (lampello, in the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Pedal Attachment to Cabinet- Organs, of which the following is a specification My invention is a contrivauce for closing up the opening in the front of the case for the pedals, and fastening and unfastening the panel which closes it by the desk.

The object is to make a better and neater appearance, and protect the instrument from dust, mice, &c.

Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation of an organcase with a pedal attachment contrived according to my invention, the section being taken on line as a: of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is an inside elevation of the front of the case.

A is the front of the case, in the lower part of which is an opening, in which the panel B is pivoted at C. so asto swing up and close the opening. E is a spring fitted to the panel inside of the case, so as to throw it open when released. F is the foot-treadle, pivoted to the panel so as to be dropped down into position when the panel is opened. G represents end pieces to the panel B, in which stop-pins H of the bars I catch to fasten the panelin the closed position, the springs J pushing them in. To throw out the pins and release the panel, a T-lever, K, pivoted at L, and having the arms project into notches in the bars at M, is arranged so that when it is turned on its pivot L by the cam N it presses the bars I out and unlocks the panel. The cam is fixed on a pivot, O, and connected by the rod P with the desk U, so that it is worked by the desk when it is opened.

I do not limit myself, however to this particular arrangement of means for working the release of the panel by the desk, for various difl'erent contrivances of devices may be employed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The foot treadles or. pedals of a cabinet organ, connected with a folding panel, B, substantially as specified.

2. The combination of stop pins H with the folding panel, having the pedals attached to it, said stop -pins being connected to and worked to release the panel by the desk when it is opened.
