IMPROVEMENT lN HARNESS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,886, dated May 23, 1876; application filed April 20, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDRIGK REYNoLD, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of NewJersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,
reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain improvements in ornamental mounting for harness, the object of which is to add to the beauty and variety of said ornamentation, and at the same time to reduce the weight and cost of the article.
The accompanying drawing illustrates to a certain extent, the natureand character of my improvements, and represents a portion of the headpiece of a horses bridle provided with an ornament such as is contemplated in my invention, which consists in an imitation of a solid open-linked metallic chain, A, which is struck up from thin sheet metal, in various forms, handsomely plated or galvanized, and

Having thus described my. invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combination of the leather piece B of a harness and the metal plate A, cut away to reduce the Weight, and formed to constitute an ornamental stiffening, as set forth.
