IMPROVEMENT IN BRlDLE-BITS.
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 216,653, dated J one 17, 1879; application filed May' 15, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE P. BUTLER, of Butler Centre, Butler county, Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bridle-Bits, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification, in which the figure represents a perspective view of a bridle bit with my improvements attached.
The object of my invention is to provide a means for preventing the reins and other leathers attached to a bridle-bit from becoming twisted, which frequently happens after the bridle has been carelessly thrown about, causing much annoyance to straighten it for use; and my invention consists in swiveling to each of the rings on the bit supplemental rings, to which the reins and other leathers are attached.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact mauner in which I have carried it out.
In the drawing, A represents a bridle-bit with its rings A A. To each of these rings is swiveled one or more supplemental rings, B B. To these rings the reins and the headstall-straps or other leathers are attached.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe bit A, having the rings A A, in combination with the supplemental swiveled rings B B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. e
