With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and'arrangement of parts as hereinafter more particularly del scribed, and-as illustrated in the accompanymg drawingswherein is shown an embodlment of the invention, but it is to be understood that the description and drawings are to be taken as illustrative and that the in- Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1 showing the valve in position for use as a low pressure type valve.

which constitutes a float chamber 2, and wh1ch ,is formed with a plurality of openings 3 havlng threaded walls in order that communication may be established between the chamber 2 and any external apparatus with which it is desired to use the valve. One end of the casing is open and is adapted to be closed by means of a valve head 4 which may be secured by suitable holdfast devices 5 to a flange 6 formed on the casing adjacent the open end thereof.
Extending through opening 7 which is formed adjacent its inner end with a neck 8. Communicating with the opening 7 is an auxiliary opening 9 which extends through the valve head 4 and which may be regulated by means of a manually operablevalve stem 10. This opening permits bypassing valve if out of order and of increasmg its capacity by a fixed opening.

The float 12 consists ofsa hollow body portion 13 upon one end of which is formed'a counterbalance 14. The counterbalance 14 is of solid construction and is provided with arccess 15 into .whichthe shank 11 extends. The float is pivotally supported on the shank 11 by means of a pivot pin 16 whichextends through the shank adjacent the free end thereof and through the side walls of the recess 15. r v
Disposed within the recess 15 is a needle '17 which is pivotally supported on a pin 18 extending through the needle adjacent one end thereof and through the side walls of the recess 15. The float 12 is preferably balanced so that its center of gravity is slightlv to the rear of the vertical plane of the pivot 16 when the casing 1 is disposed horizontally. With the casing thus disposed and with the valve'head arranged as shown in Figure 1, the outer'end of the needle 17 will be brought into engagement with the outer wall of the neck 8 whereby the neck is closed until a lifting force is exerted on the body 1? portion 13 of the float by a iiquid which may be intrbduced into the chamber 2, When the valve head is inverted as shown in Figure.

It 1s thought that the many advantages of a-valve in accordance with this invention will be readily apparent, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may bc resorted to, so longas such changes fall within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. 1
What I claim is:
1.- In a valve structure, a .float including a hollow body portion and further including a counterbalance formed on one end of the body portion, said counterbalance being formed with means for pivotally connect- 2 ing the float with a support, and a port closing element pivotally connected to said counterbalance and extending longitudinally of 2. In a valve structure, a valve head having a shank formed on its inner face. a float including a hollow bod portion and further including a counterba ance formed on the forward end of the body portion, said counterbalance being provided with a recess into which said shank extend meansfor pivotall connecting said shank with the side walls of said recess, and a needle) pivotally connected to the side walls of said rebess and extending longitudinally of the float.
4. In a valve structure, a valve head having a shank formed on its inner face, a float including a hollow body portion and further including a counterbalance formed on the forward end of the body portion, said counterbalance being provided with a recess into which said shank extends, means for pivotally connecting said shank with the side walls of said recess, and a needle pivotally connected to the side walls of said recess and extending longitudinally of the float, said float having its center of gravity rearwardly of the vertical plane of the pivotal connection between the counterbalance and shank.
5. In a valve structure, a valve head having an opening extending therethrough and further having a shank projecting from the inner face thereof, a float including a hollow body portion and further including a counterbalance formed on the inner end of the body portion, said counterbalance being protion, said counterbalance being provided with a recess into which said shank extends, means for pivotally connecting the counterbalance and shank, and a needle pivotally connected to the counterbalance and extending longitudinally of the float for engage- ?en; with the opening through the valve 7. In a valve structure, a casing formed with an open end, a valve head for closing said open end, said valve head having an opening extending therethrough and further having a shank projecting from the inner face thereof, a float in'cluding a hollow body portion-and further including a counterbalance formed on the forward end bf the body portion, said counterbalance being provided with a recess into which' said shank extends, means for pivotally connecting the counterbalance and shank, and a needle pivotally connected to the counterbalance and extending longitudinally of the float for engagement with the opening through the valve head, said valve head being invertible with respect to said casing.
8. In a valve structure, a casing formed with an open end, a valve head for closing said open end, said valve head having an opening extending therethrough and further having a shank projecting from the inner face thereof, a float including a hollow body portion and further including a counterbalance formed on the forward end of the body portion, said counterbalance being provided with a recess into which said shank extends, means for pivotally connecting the counterbalance and shank, and a needle pivotally connected to the counterbalance and extending longitudinally of the float for engagement with the opening through the valve head said valve head having a manually closable, auxiliary opening extending there through. i
