This invention appertains to improvements in article supports generally, and more particularly-to holders for containers, such as bags or the like.

An object of the invention is to provide a holder of the class set forth, which is preferably in the form of a wall bracket or the like, and which is of an extremely simplified construction and arrangement of connected parts, such as will be of maximum durability and efiiciency in use, manufacture.

Another object of the invention isto provide a device of the character hereinbefore mentioned, which is especially designed to provide for a simple and effective means for holding containers, such as paper bags or the like, in open position for the dropping into the same of waste materials from dentists or doctors oflices during the treatment of pa tients, or small portions of refuse or garbage from household kitchens, whereby, whenever desired, the container or bag may be readily detached from the holder, and placed in a usual form of waste receptacle, such as a garbage or trash can, for subsequent collection by public or other collectors of garbage or trash, or otherwise gotten rid of or destroyed.

\Vith the foregoing and other equally important objects in view, the invention resides in the certain new and useful construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, set forth in the appended claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring to the drawing, wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views thereof, the preferred embodiment of the invention, as shown therein by way of example, comprises a frame, of any suitable or desired shape, which is preferably formed from a and inexpensive to o SUPPORT 1928. single length or piece of metal, such as wire or the like, and which is arranged to provide an attaching portion a and an article or container supporting portion Z). The. attaching portion a, of the'f'rame, is formed by a straight horizontal portion 10 disposed medially of the opposite ends of the length or piece f metal, with eyes 11 formed at its extremities by the upward looping of the portions of the metal connected therewith.

The depending vertical portions 14 are preferably of an appreciable less length than the complemental rear verticalportions 12, and are angularly bent, as at 15, at their lowor extremities to dispose the opposite free end portions 16, of the length or piece of metal forming the article or container supporting portions 6, of the frame, in a horizontal plane at a distance abovetheplane of the horizontal attaching portion 10, The supporting portions 16 are outwardly and oppositel curved, andpreferably on similar arcs which, in their relative dispositions, define a true circle. I p I 4 p The extreme free ends of the supporting portions 16 are unconnected, and spaced apart at a slight distance to lend free flexibility or resiliency to these portions, so that they will readily function for the intended purposes thereof.

It is .to be noted that the vertical portions 12, rising from the looped or eye portions 11 at the opposite ends of the horizontal attaching portion 10 ,of the frame, arerprefei ably inclined in a rearward direction in their relation to the upper vertical portions 14, and in a manner that the lower "bent portions of the latter abut the adjacent intermediate portions of the vertic'alportions 12, which arrangement aflords substantial support to the resilient or semi-resilient supporting arms or curved portions 16, when a bag or other container is suspended therefrom.

In the use of the device or holderfafs thus constructed and.arranigecttheattaching per upwardly between the outer vertical portions 13 and the rear vertical portions 12.. 7- \Vhen properly positioned, the natural resiliency of the supporting arms or portions 16 will cause the same to bear against the inner walls of the bag or container 0, while th'e 'similar resiliency of the depending vertical portions 14 will act to clamp the engaged edge of the latter between the same and the rear vertical 'portion 12, which are rigidly held by the fastenings 17 against the wall or other supporting surface. v V r With the paper bag or the like a supported in open position from a holder, the same may so readily utilized for receiving waste materials, as herelnbefore explained, and when desired or necessary the filled, or partially filled, bag orcontainer will be removed from the holder, and placed in the usual form or garbage or trash receptacle. By using paper bags or the like for the suggested purposes, andin the manner as indicated for the same, the handling of waste materials will be facilitated and otherwise accomplished in a more sanitary manner than has heretofore been the case, and'the usualnecessity of washing or otherwise cleaning out the main garbage or trash receptacle will be obviated by reason of the fact that the waste materials or garbage are retained against contact with the same. a

Without further'descriptiomit is thought that the features and advantages of the invcntion will be readily apparent to those skilled in the 'art, and it will of course be understood that changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention or its scope as claimed. r

Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A holder of the classdescribed, c0mprising an attaching portion, resilient members depending from the upper ends of and at the forward side of said attaching portion, and oppositely arranged resilient 1 supporting members projecting outwardly from the lower ends of said depending members and adapted to be engaged within the open end of a bag, said depending members being arranged to bear against the said attaching portions at their lower ends and to clamp an engaged portion of the edge of the container therebetween, e V
