DETACHABLE RECEPTACLE FOR PORTABLE BABY BATHING OUTFITS Filed Aug. 19, 1947 Patented Dec. 25, 1951 DETACHABLE RECEPTACLE FOR PORTABLE BABY BATHING OUTFITS Dorothy E. Johnson, Havertown, Pa., assignor to Charles W. H. Schroth, J r., Abington, Pa.
Application August 19, 1947, Serial No. 769,410
2 Claims.
My invention relates to new and useful detachable receptacles for portable baby bathing out fits and has for one of its objects to provide, in combination, a holder or hanger for detachable connection to the crossed legs of a baby bathing outfit, such as a Bathinette, and a receptacle for soiled baby clothes temporarily and detachably connected with the holder or hanger.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for detachably fastening the receptacle to the holder or hanger.
Another object of the invention is to so construct the holder or hanger that the receptacle supporting portion will assume a horizontal position above the points of attachment of said holder or hanger to the baby bathing outfit.
A further object of this invention is to provide a hanger or holder comprising a substantially elliptical loop, to function as a receptacle supporting portion, from which project outwardly and downwardly extending angular arms including return bends to form leg engaging means for attaching the holder to a bathing outfit.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide the receptacle and the receptacle supporting portion or loop with eyes whereby th receptacle may be laced to the holder.
With the above and other objects in view this invention consists of the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then designated by the claims.
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same I will describe its construction in detail referring by numerals to the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof, in which:
Fig. l is a perspective view of a baby bathing outfit and my detachable receptacle mounted thereon.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the appliance consisting of the receptacle and its holder or hanger.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view thereof, and
Fig. 4 is a rear view of the same, the lower part of the receptacle being broken away.
In carrying out my invention as herein embodied 5 represents a baby bathing outfit or Bathinette which is generally foldable or collapsible and includes a pair of crossed legs 6, at each end of a frame I that supports the water holding container 8, usually of water-tight fabric, and may also support a flexible hammock-dike rest 9 on which a baby may be laid during dry ing and/or dressing operations.
The crossed legs are pivoted intermediate their ends and when in the open position produce an X-shaped form of structure.
The appliance particularly comprising the in- Vention includes a holder or hanger Ill produced from a strip of suitable material, such as an appropriate plastic, fashioned to provide a body portion H of curved or loop configuration, preferably elliptical in shape, and open at the back. The ends of the material strip are bent back outwardly and downwardly to form the sections l2 of the angular arms I 3 and when formed with outside return bends M which provide the other sections of said angular arms. The two sections of each angular arm are in spaced parallel rela tion and constitute a hook for engagement with the upper part of a leg of the bathing outfit.
The angular arm sections l2 and M of both arms have aligned holes l5 therethrough spaced a distance from the bends approximately equal to the width of a leg of the bathing outfit whereby a fastener, such as a peg, pin, cord or the like may be projected throu h said holes to temporarily and removably hold the hanger or holder in place after the hook ends of the angular arms are engaged on the legs. The body portion of the hanger will assume a horizontal position and lie rather close to the legs on which the hanger is mounted at one end of the bathing outfit.
A fabric bag or receptacle It has a plurality of equally spaced holes ll around its open end or mouth for registration with similarly spaced holes or eyes 18 formed in the body portion H of the hanger when the mouth of the bag is placed inside of said body portion. A suitable lacing 19 is threaded through the holes in said body portion of the hanger and the mouth of the bag to temporarily secure the bag to the hanger. This will retain the mouth of the bag in an open condition and permit soiled articles of clothing or other items to be readily placed or dropped into thebag. A convenient way to assemble the lacing is to thread one end through holes located adjacent one of the hanger arms and tie said lacing end, then thread the lacing through the other holes until those adjacent the other arm of the hanger are reached and tie the opposite end of said lacing in place.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that I have provided an exceedingly simple article of manufacture for attachment to a baby bathing outfit, such as a Bathinette, which is very convenient for the temporary disposal of soiled garments and accessories by the person having charge of bathing and dressing a baby. The bag may be attached to the hanger before or after the latter is mounted on the legs at one end of the bathing outfit and when in place the mouth of the bag is constantly in an open position so that any item small enough to enter the mouth of the bag can be dropped into the bag. If it from the spirit of my invention.
another bag.
or course I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction hereinshown and described as these may be varied within the scope of the appended claims without departing Having described my invention what I claim as new and useful is:
1. In a device of the kind described, a hanger formed from a thin strip of material fashioned to provide an, elliptical loop shaped body with an open space at the rear thereof, arms projecting downwardly and outwardly from the body on opposite sides of the open space, hooks at the bag laced to the hanger body with the mouth of said bag inside of said hangerbody.
2. The structure according to claim 1 wherein.
the hook elements have aligned holes, in combination with means projected through said holes to close the mouths of the hooks.
DOROTHY E. JOHNSON.
