lihis invention relates to improvements in price tags or other marking oridentiiication means.
An object of the invention Apmprehends a E Hap portion adapted to be folni/iedA against the tag proper.
Another object of the invention containplates a booklet held between the Hap and tag and upon which may beffjifritten the instructions for the use and proper care of the article identified. f'
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further consists in the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the` accompanyingdrawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
,In the drawings Figures 1 and 2 are front and rear eleva m tions of the present invention.
Figure 3 is an elevation of the invention with the flap disengaged and extended from the tag proper.
Figure d is a longitudinal sectional view ',taken on line 4-ll of Figure 3.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character indicates a price taor having an extension or 0 ap 11 projecting horizontally disposed with relation to the tag.
'lhe flap or extension is adapted to be folded upon the line of scoring 12 to dispose an opening 13 adjacentr idmendthereofin registration with an opening 14 within the uppers most end of the tag l1() .to permit insertion of a cord or other tie, such as indicated at 15.
A book of instructions, as generally indicated at 16, and Acomprising leaves 17, are l0 adapted to be joined adjacent the uppermost ends thereof to the tagvlO upon the opposite sidesy of the opening 14 therein through the instrumentality of staples 18. The tie 15 is also passed through the upper portions of the leaves 17.
The instructions upon the leaves 17 will inform the purchaser of the article just what the article is, its use, and care required to facilitate the desired performance.
The outer surfaces 0f both the tag and iiap fiom a line of scoring 12 therefore may be employe'd-to exhibit the` name of the product, the model, t pe, catalogue number, price, size, address o the manufacturer, address of the retailer, a notice that instructions for the use and proper care of the article are included within tjhe pocket delined between the tag and Hap, etc. The present price tag in general use 1s only adequate for a description and price ot the object to which itis attached. Many manufacturers have tense, in conjunction with this tag, an extra instruction book or catalogue, describing their products. With the improved price tag and instruction book combination, the
two, namely, the tag and catalogue, are included in one. The advantages of the present invention are particularly noticeable when one considers that the average retail saglsman knows nothing of the article being so lt is a simple matter with the improved price tag and instruction book combination for the sales person looking ati the tag on the object, to undo the string or tie and read the booklet enclosed in the tag, thus familiarizing himself with the product he is selling.
For the consumer, this new combination insures the instruction book reaching him intact with the tag. Separate instruction books, as a rule, are lost, and the present invention prevents theobject being sold reachtid ing its destination withoutproper instructions for its operation. l.,
Catalogues, describing other products than .the-one sold, can also be advertised in the same Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is: I
The combination of a price tag having a `liep projecting from one end thereof, leaves in booklet form carried upon the innerface and extending throughout the length of the tag, said iap having folding connection with one end of the tag along a horizontal line of scoring below the unbound ends of the leaves for a distance equal to the thickness of the booklet to prevent bulging of the tag and flap, about the booklet of leaves, and a package tie establishing detachable connection between the adjacent ends of the tag and flap through the bound edges of the booklet.
In testimony whereof I alix my signature.
JULIEN J. PROSKAUER.
