3 Claims. ((31. 229-8) This invention relates to ,a display folding box.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a display folding box which can be filled with the products to be displayed in the same manner in which any folding box is filled, and wherein over the front part of the box there are provided folded-in display flaps which can be opened up to display the product therewithin, and

wherein these flaps provide a display shape orfigiire when, opened which will draw the attention of the customer orviewer to the package and to the product being displayed.

It is another object of the invention to provide a display folding boxwhich is cut from a single piece of paper stock and is adapted for machine gluing. and will not require great time on the assembly line for the filling-o the boxwith the product packages.

It is another object of the invention to provide a display folding box having flaps adapted to be opened which can be hung on a Christmas tree with the products therewithin being displayed, the uppermost flap serving as a hanging member and all of the flaps providing repre: sentations which when taken together portray the outline of a figure.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a display foldingbox having a front opening and flaps folded over, such opening adapted to be opened to display a figure and the product, which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and adapted to be shipped in a flattened condition.

For other objects and for a better understanding, of

the invention, reference may be had tothe following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the display folding box with the front flaps folded in and secured together,

but with the box flaps on one end open preparatory to the filling of the box with the product; I Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the box with the flaps on the front of the same opened to display the product and also to portray a figure or shape;

Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the foldingibox as viewed on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, but with the top closure flap closed; a Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view of the box in its opened condition, as viewed on line 4-4 of Fig. 2;

Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view of the box with the display flaps folded in and taken on line 55 of Fig. l

at the location in which the upper and lower flaps are connected together;

Referring now particularly to the form of the invention shown in Figs. 1 to 7, 15 represents a back portion of the box which may have a Window 16 through which the product can be observed at times when the front of the box is closed by the display flaps.

Side portions

17 and 18 are foldably connected respectively along lines 19 and 20m the back portion 15. To the side portion 17 there is foldably connected along fold line 21 a display flap 22 and to the side portion 18 there is-foldably connected along line 23 a front open frame portion 24 having a large window 25 out of which a side display flap 26 can be foldedas along one side edge of the opening on fold line 27. A narow glue flap 28 is foldably connected along line 29 to the front frame portion 24. As the box is assembled and folded from one side toward the other, and as the front portion 24 is brought over the back portion 15, the glue flap 28 will be secured to the side portion 17 and in a manner such that the fold line 29 coincides with fold line 21 that connects display flap 22 with the side portion 17.

The back portion 15 has a top closure flap 31 that is foldable along a fold line 32 to form the top end of 1 the box and which in turn has a tuck flap 33 foldable along line 34 to secure the flap 31 in place over the top end of the box. The bottom end of the back portion has a bottom closure flap 34 foldable along a line 35 upon the back portion 15 and which in turn has a tuck flap 36 foldable along the fold line 37. The

Wifli the front portion folded over,.and the glue flap 28 secured to the side portion 17 and the closure flaps folded in, there is provided a generally rectangular tube. Before closing the top flaps, the box can be filled with the product, such as rolls of candy, and as indicated at,50.

Referring now to the form of the invention shown in Figs. 8 to 15, the box is assembled from two parts and 71. The part 70 provides a back portion 72 having

At the bottom end of the back portion 72 there is connected an end portion 81 foldable along a line 82 to provide the bottom of the box and to which a bottom display fiap 83 is connected to be folded on fold line '84.

At the top end of the back portion 72"is atop flap 85 which can be folded along fold line 86 and to which there is connected a top display flap 87 foldable along the line 88.

When the end portion 81 is folded upwardly along fold line 82, the same can be retained in the folded position by

With the back part 70 so folded, it is adapted to receive the product, and at this time the display flaps 77, 79, 83 and 87 are folded outwardly.

Thereafter the display flaps 77, 79, S3 and 87 can be folded inwardly. The side display flaps 77 and 79 will be first folded in and thereafter the bottom flap 83 will be folded over the side flaps, and finally the top fiap 87 is folded down and its

What is claimed is:

l. A foldable display box comprising a back portion, side portions respectively connected to the opposite sides of said back portion, a front portion connected between said side portions, said front portion having a display opening therein and being folded to overlie the back portion, a

glue flap on the front portion connected to the opposite side portion, foldable end closure flaps connected to the back and side portions and adapted when opened to provide access to the box, top and bottom display flaps respectively hingedly connected to said front portion md adapted to be brought over the openingin the front portion and secured together, a side display flap connected to II! other side portion and foldable inwardly over the front portion and under the top and bottom display flaps, and another side display flap foldable out of the display opening and hinged to one side thereof opposing the manner tioned side display flap and foldable inwardly under said top and bottom display flaps.

2. A foldable display box comprising open front back, side and end closure flap portions, foldable front display flaps respectively foldably connected to the side and end portions and adapted to overlie the open front portion in their closed positions, the opposing display flaps on the side portions being cut to provide parts of a figure outline, and the opposing display flaps on the end portions respectively having other parts of the figure outlined thereon, which taken together with the cut display flaps and when all of the flaps are extended laterally outwardly to display positions, portray an outline of a complete figure, said end front display flaps adapted to be folded over the front of the box and to overlie one another, said out side display flaps adapted to be folded inwardly over the front of the box and to underlie the end display flaps, and means for locking the end front display flaps together when folded over the front of the box.

A folding box formed of sheet stock made into a generally rectangular tube and secured by joined glue flaps, said tube having top and bottom end closure flaps to close the respective open ends thereof and when open permit access to the box, display flaps respectively hingedly connected to the top and bottom ends of the tube, another display flap hingedly connected to one of the glue flaps and lying at the side edge of the tube, another display flap struck out of the tube and foldable over the opposite side edge of the tube, said display flaps when extending outwardly completing a fanciful figure, of which the tube serves as the body, the top flap serves as the head, the bottom flap serves as the legs and feet and the side flaps serves as the sides and arms, all of said display flaps being foldable across the tube body for shipping and two of said display fiaps carrying a locking means to maintain all of said display flaps in their closed positions.
