IMPROVEMENT IN BOOT-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,433, dated March 7, 1876; application filed February 5, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. PHENIX, of New Brunswick, Middlesex county, New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Pocket Boot-Jack, of which the following is a specification:

The body of the boot-jack is made in two nearlyequal parts, A B, which are hinged to each other, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3. In the outer end of one of the parts, as B, is framed a notch, N, of the proper shape and size to receive the heel of the boot to be pulled oft. In the base of the notch 12 is formeda right-angled notch, b to receive the tongue 0 of the block 0. The block 0 is so formed as to fit into-the notches b 11 and is pivoted in said notches by a pin, 1), which passes transversely through the part B, and through the tongue 0 of the block 0.
When the boot-jack is folded, the block 0 c liesin the notches 1). 11 so as to give no additional thickness, and the parts are secured together by a hook, E, attached to the part A, and hooking'into an eye or staple, F, attached to the part B.
When the boot-jack is opened out for use, the block 0 is turned down to rest upon the floor, as shown in Fig. 3.
