This invention relates generally to receptacles for refuse such as garbage, ashes and the like and consists o construction, combinations and arrangements of parts as will bemore fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims. i

Thus from the foregoing description, it will be readily apparent that I have provided a strong and durable construction that can be manufactured at a comparatively low cost. As the receptacle is cast into one piece it will also be apparent that the installation thereof has been greatly simplified. In fact they may be built and shipped as units ready for immediate installation. Moreover leakage due to faulty joints has been obviated entirely.

l. A receptacle for refuse having an upwardly inclined Wall provided withv an opening for refuse, a closure for the opening liingedly connected to the Wall above the opening, a ledge overhanging said opening so as to protect the connection between the closure and Wall andr prevent Water draining through the opening into the receptacle, said ledge being constructed and arranged to limit the opening movementof the closure so as to prevent the latter from leaning back against the inclined Wall above the opening and thereby accidentally be lett in open position.
2. A receptacle for refuse having anvupvWardly inclined Wall provided with an opening for reuse, a closure for said opening hingedvly connected to said wall above the opening, and ineans upon said inclined Wall protecting the connection between the closure and Wall, preventing Water draining l through the opening into the receptacle, and limiting the opening nioveinent of the closure to prevent the closure whenin open position from leaning back against said Wall and accidentally remaining in open position.
