The present invention pertains to improvements in body garments, and the same refers particularly to a garment for useby motorists, which can be slipped over good garments to protect the same during long trips.
The prime'obj ect of the invention resides in the provision of a garment equally practical in use for either males or females, and which because of its novel construction affords fa- M cilities whereby the same may be quickly placed over the good garments worn by a novel means whereby the parts thereof mayv be maintained and supported in proper posir tion.
These and i other objects of the inventionl will become apparent as the structure thereof is better understood from the following'specilication and claim.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a full length viewV of al Woman dressed in the garment, showing the flap portions of the blouse in upward folded position.
Fig. 2 represents a similar view of a woman dressed in the present garment and showing the lower portion of the blouse tucked within the waist portion of the trousers.
Fig. 3 is a front view of the novel trousers.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary rear view of the blouse, showing the rear flap and the lower edge thereof lturned upwardly.
Fig. 5 is a view of the lower suspending means shown detached from the garment.
Fig. 6 represents a view of a woman dressed in the present improved garment, and showing the portion of the blouse depending from over the outside of the trousers and secured thereto.
Fig. 7 Vis a fragmentaryview of the garment showing the blouse flap about to be secured to the trousers, and
12 respectively.
side of the trousers. i. l
i Referring to thedrawngs' more in detail, like-numerals designateli-ke parts, andthe improved garment includes a blouse 1i anda a pair of'trousers 2.' The blousefl -isconstructed optionally withthe collar Sito permit the attachment of the'tie 4. The garment is preferably f provided with sleeves.5-,.-.5, the lower edge ofthe blouse being provided with front andrear flaps-6 and 7 respectively, which overlap each other .at
their respective ends.4 These [overlapping end portions are formed ywith-buttor'ifholes 8 in registering positionwhile ai button9 affixed to the hip portion of the blouse and 4 1s engageable through the registering button holes forsecuringthelap in turned position showninFigAr` 1 The trousers 2. are; constructed with the usual leg portionand withf` pockets-ofthe the :up-
type designated by the numeral-110. .Each
hip portion ofthe trousers isslit downwardly for apredete'rmined distance'and-the edge vportions of these slits aresecurable by-Cmplementarybuttons 'andbutton holeszll and .Ai button Y13is secured to each portion of the trousers at a point below the waist Fig. 8 is a fragmentary View@ thee back.
line thereof and this button is adapted to beps() engaged through the registering button holes 8 of the overlapping ends of flaps 6 and 7 respectively, when the `flaps are unbuttonedvr from the buttons 9 and permitted to depend 4at the outside of the trousers, in the mannen@ as clearly shown in Fig. 6.
When the garment is worn in the manner shown in Fig. 1, with the flap secured upl turned position, Suspenders such as are shown in Fig. 5 are employed. 4'This suspenden@ structure includes a pair `of straps 14k-14:` which are secured together in cross relation adjacent one of their ends, at substantially the position designated by numeral 15. The end portions of these straps are formed witlrf, button holes 16 so that by adjusting the crossed portion of the Suspenders against'` the back of the wearer and disposing the longer portions of the straps over the shoulders, the
f hip portions thereof, the edge portions of the- J trousers engagedy through the button holes the buttons 17 and the front side ofthe trousers, while the oppositegends of the strap 1li may have the button 18 at the rear side of the thereof, so that the trousers' may be supported without the assistance of ther blouse 1.`
Obviously, whenthe Haps 6 and 7 respectively are disposed downwardly'and secured to the trousers in the manner shown in Fig. 6, the employment of the Suspenders is not necessary. VThe suspends may be employed on the outside of the blouse in the manner shown in Fig..2, when the flaps of the blouse are tucked within the waist portion of the trousers.
It will bethus seen thatv the present garment structure may be applied to a person in several diderent manners and also presents means whereby the same can be easily removed. v 'Y It is to be understood that the garment maybe manufactured ofany material and that certain changes may be made therein I lwithout departing from the spirit of the invention or the scopeof the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what f I claim as new is In a body garment including a blouse andv a` pair of trousers, the lower 'edge portion of said blouseV being slit vertically kfrom the slitsbeing disposed in overlapping relation Y yand formed with registering openings, and
' the member at each hipkportion of the blousef vbeing movable through the registeringV opening when the lower edgey portion of the garment is folded upwardly, and means onythe 'trousers engageable through the registering openings when' the lower edge portion of the blouse is permitted to depend over the trousers for securing'said blouse to the trousers. In testimony whereof I aiii'x lmy signature.
VAIDA ISLATE.
