DRESS SHIELD.

This invention relates to dress shields and more particularly to devices of this character which are adapted to be removably secured in the dress.

As heretofore constructed, dress shields which have been in general use, have been sewed in the garment, thus rendering the removal thereof difficult when it is desired to launder thev garment or shield, and further, when the shields are secured in positionby pins, the garment presents avery unsightly appearance. 4 In; clothing stores where apparel of this nature i's'sold, it is the custom to permit the prospective purchaser to try on `the garmentzto determine whether same fits. This invention has for one of its objects, the provision, in a manneras hereinafter set forth, a device of the aforementioned character having lmeans embodied therewithl for quickly and securely fastening same in a dress, and wherein said fastening means are concealed from view. 'j i j Another object of the invention is to provide a dress shield of the character set forth which may be manufactured at very low cost, thus permitting the proprietors of stores to purchase same in quantities and place fresh ones ina garment for each customer, after which said shield may bedestroyed, thus preventing said garment from being damaged and protecting the customer from disease.

When used in stores, the clerk will insert the shield in the garment which the prospective purchaser desires to try on. When the customer has finished trying on the garment, the shield may be removed and dest'royed.

It is thought that the many advantages of a dress shield constructed in accordance with this invention `will be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be made scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A dress shield comprising a body portion, afbinding strip enclosing the edge and marginal faces of said body portion, and securing elements positioned between the body portion and said binding strip for securing the shield in a garment, each of said 2. A dress shield comprising a (pair of opposed connected flaps, a bin ing strip mounted on and enclosing the edges and marginal. portions thereof, inverted U- shaped securing elements mounted between said flaps and the binding strip at the point of connection of the flaps, said elements having inwardly turned prongs projecting through opposed portionsl of the binding strip and adapted to engage a garment for the purpose of securing the shield thereto.

A dress shield comprising a pair of op- .posed connected flaps, a binding strip enclosing the edges and marginal portions of said flaps, inverted, substantially lU-shaped 4securing elements mounted on said flaps and extending downwardly therebetween from the connected portions thereof, portions of each of said elements being secured to opposed faces of the flaps by the binding strip in a manner to enclose the elements between the flaps and said strip, and securing prongs carried by said elements and projecting inwardly through opposed faces of the strip.
